Büro Ole Scheeren is an international firm that practices architecture, urbanism, interior design, and research.

Our work ranges from city-defining structures and innovative urban prototypes to carefully crafted cultural buildings, with projects across Asia, Europe and North America.

We have recently completed the Guardian Art Center in Beijing, DUO in Singapore, and MahaNakhon in Bangkok; our current developments include, amongst others, 1515 Alberni and Barclay Village in Vancouver, Riverpark Tower – an innovative adaptive re-use in Frankfurt, Empire City – a high-rise complex in Ho Chi Minh City, the ZTE Headquarters in Shenzhen and Wuliang Interstice in Yibin.

We are looking for an experienced Architectural Designer specialized in Cultural projects to join our Beijing Office. Your role will range from the conceptualization to the design development of high-profile Cultural Projects –from Cultural Centers, Libraries, Museums, Theaters, Performing Art Centers, amongst others – through all design stages from concept through construction.

You will have a strong understanding of both architectural design development and project management. You will represent and communicate the project both internally and externally with a strong sensitivity to our design approach. At the Beijing office, we are looking for an outstanding Senior Architectural Designer with Experience and Passion in leading the further development of a culture of Detailing and Material Innovation, and collaborate with our teams to complete a series of high-profile architectural projects, with an emphasis on the excellence in Detailing and Material Innovation, from mixed-use commercial projects to cultural projects to interiors.

You have a strong track-record and emphasis of working on Specialist Exterior Envelopes and Interior Finishes in complex, medium to large-scale Cultural and Mixed-Use projects. You will join our creative and dynamic practice with the opportunity to introduce and develop innovative technical design solutions for high-profile commissions – during design stages and on-site, with our distinguished network of consultants. You will be one of our in-house experts who leads, coaches and mentors our teams in materializing unique and ambitious overall and specific material solutions in a project. We are currently offering full-time Architectural Internships. We are looking for talented students or recent graduates who are enthusiastic and seek experience in a thought-provoking environment. Candidates are expected to participate in multiple aspects of the project process, including presentations, submission packages, digital and physical study models.

Internships are typically offered for a period of 6-12 months.

Minimum requirements:
• Enrollment in a degree program for architecture, landscape architecture or interior design.
• Strong graphic, image-making and design talent.
• Excellent digital model-making skills.
• Excellent AutoCAD, Rhino, Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign skills.
• Fluency in spoken English.
• Strong ability in Maya and Grasshopper is a plus.
• Strong ability in Premiere and After Effects is a plus.
• Strong ability in sustainability is a plus. This includes, knowledge of sustainability principles, understanding of climate data, and use of Ladybug for analysis in performance-driven design.

For our Beijing team, we are looking for a Senior Architectural Designer to be part of a talented team on a high-profile architectural commission through all design stages from concept through construction.

Responsible for overseeing a main part of this complex mixed-use project, you will have a strong understanding of both architectural design development and project management, to successfully lead part of the entire process of realizing an ambitious and innovative architectural concept into built reality true to design intent.

You will represent and communicate the project both internally and externally with a strong sensitivity to our design approach and with a sense of technical proficiency. You will be closely communicating with the Client and all consultants, and ensure clarity throughout the design and construction processes.

We are currently looking for talented Design Architects with a strong design and aesthetic understanding and command of complex geometries, and an ability to convincingly translate ideas and forms into digital and physical models, drawings, and visuals. Candidates should have project experience on mid- to large-scale projects in the concept and schematic design phases. Knowledge of technical principles and previous involvement in detailing stages is desirable.

You will join dedicated project teams to generate concept designs for projects of varying typologies and scales, and develop design directions for evaluation and testing against programmatic, aesthetic, and technical considerations.

Experience and knowledge:
Candidates should have at least 2-4 years post-graduate work experience in the development of high quality design concepts at internationally renowned architectural design firms. Expertise in Rhino, Maya and Grasshopper is essential. Candidates should possess clear communication skills, a systematic approach to design, and excellent graphic abilities.

Qualifications:
• Highly creative and unique design approach with strong aesthetic sensibilities.
• 2-4 years minimum post-graduate experience in concept designs in international design offices.
• Experience in multi-platform workflows, geometric optimization and fabrication processes for complex geometry and curvatures.

Responsible for creating high-quality and practical residential unit layouts and amenities layouts, and innovative and beautiful exterior façade designs, you will have a strong understanding of architectural and spatial design for high-end residential typologies and a strong ability to integrate design with market needs and relevant building regulations. You will also represent and communicate your work both internally and externally with a strong sensitivity to our design approach.

• You have an excellent academic background with a Master in Architecture or equivalent.
