In the Post-COVID recovery, profound changes have occurred in people’s lifestyles and consumer mindsets. The demand for personalized services and experiences is on the rise. Consumers are placing more importance on the quality and emotional connection of in-person experiences, desiring custom services in a secure and comfortable ambiance. This has created ample opportunities for independent store space with low-cost and distinctive features.

业主杨先生，一位来自香港发型师，早年间赴韩国研习发型艺术，怀揣着对美的独特理解和对行业的深厚情怀，回国后创立了自己的品牌“都市曲线”并委托厘米制造为其在深圳南头古城设计店铺新形象。

Owner Mr. Yang, who was born in Hong Kong and studied hair styling in South Korea, commissioned CM Design to bring a new image for his brand “Urban Curve” in Nantou City, Shenzhen. He developed a unique vision for beauty and deep passions for his craft.

南头古城作为城市记忆的活化石，其独特的文化底蕴与现代生活方式的融合，为品牌赋予了不可复制的地域特色。店铺位于南头古城中山南街一坊深巷，藏于浓厚的市井氛围之中，不仅与周边环境和谐共生，更借力于古城的人文氛围，吸引着寻求质感与特色体验的顾客群体。

As a living testament to urban history, Nantou City combines rich cultural heritage with modern lifestyles, giving the “Urban Curve” an irreplaceable regional identity. The store hid in a deep and bustling alley of South Zhongshan Street. Its presence, harmonizing with its surroundings, attracts customers who value both quality and unique experiences by the cultural atmosphere of the old city.

店铺空间原为一间普通湘菜馆，所在建筑为典型的南方城中村三层居民砖混结构自建楼，一层分租成早餐店和餐饮小吃商业，二三层为房东一家居所。厘米制造团队在考虑和把控整体预算的同时希望置入一个功能体块装置，它不仅是空间布局中的一个亮点，更提升了整体的空间体验。这个装置于门头伸出的竖向体块造型打破了古城街巷铺面横向延展的常态，进而延伸至室内空间，通过多个曲形划分出理发烫染区域和展示空间。

“Urban Curve” was once a common Hunan cuisine restaurant, built in the ground floor of a typical three-story brick-concrete building which can be seen everywhere in southern urban villages. Considering the budget, CM Design introduced a functional installation to the store to enhance the space experience. With its vertical block, the installation extended from the entrance door to the street, breaking the usual horizontal street facade. On the other side, the curved shape of the installation also created a flowing interior division between the hair styling and display area.

材料的选择上，我们使用了城中村街巷中常见的生铁皮，既体现了在地性与经济性，也与周边环境自然融合。与此同时，在保留原有结构的基础上，通过精准的拆改与填补，厘米制造在新与旧之间找到了微妙的平衡，保留原天花脚线以及收集打拆墙砖作为局部门窗的填补，创造出一个低造价又不失设计感的空间。

When chose material, we used raw iron sheets, economical and commonly seen in urban villages, which will not create a sense of inconsistency with the surrounding area. By preserving the original structure and making precise modifications, CM Design struck a delicate balance between old and new. We also kept the current ceiling moldings and collected bricks from the removed walls to fill doors and windows, resulting in a low-cost yet stylishly designed space.

“都市曲线”发型设计品牌店的成立，是一次时尚商业与低成本改造创新的结合；也是后疫情时代下，对个性化服务、文化深度体验的一次积极探索；更是厘米制造于南头古城次街巷设计改造更新的前奏。正是在这样的背景下，都市曲线以它大隐隐于市的独特方式展现出对美、对生活、对文化的姿态。

“Urban Curve” hair styling brand store is a successful blend of fashion, innovation and low-cost renovation. It also explores a forward-thinking way to personalized services and cultural experiences after COVID-19 lockdown. Additionally, it’s also the prelude to the renovations in Nantou City’s sub-streets by CM Design. In this context, “Urban Curve” understated yet sophisticated presence reflects its commitment to beauty, life, and culture.
