店名root inn字面意思上root译为“植物根系”也是电脑术语“根源、根目录”，意图用科技的手法挖掘自然界规则下的底层程序，从而展现表象之下的逻辑与想象力。想象力潜伏在表象之下，就如同深埋于地底的植物根系，如果你有足够的想像力跨过表象深入到内核，便可以用自然界正在用高级的配色诠释它生命源头的非凡能量群。

The brand’s name Root inn can be translated into the “root of plants” or the “root directory” in computerese, which implies an intention to explore the underlying program beneath the natural orders through technology. In this way, the logic and imagination can be revealed. The hidden imagination under the surface is similar to the roots underground. If you have enough imagination to penetrate the surface and reach the real core of nature, then you are can use the advanced color combinations in nature to represent the extraordinary energy that belongs to it.

我们希望将电子科技融入于自然之中，并探索自然生态的矛盾与未来的相处之道。 设计初期我们希望搜集80后这代人儿时的一些记忆元素运用在整个空间中 例如：像素化、电路板、元器件、琥珀、时光隧道等等。室内空间上我们根据两个入口的动线，划分出几个不同区域的客座区，可满足两人或多人的用餐模式。

We intend to integrate the electronic technology with nature and explore a way to build communication between the contradictions in nature and the future. During early process of design, we wanted to collect and represent the childhood memories of 1980s’ in the entire space. For example, the pixelation, circuit board, components, amber, time tunnels, etc. In designing the interior space, we divided different sections for customers according to the routes of two entrances, which can satisfy the dinner pattern for two or more customers.

在主入口， 我们利用红黑色的火山石模拟了土壤的断层切面，结合像素化的logo呼应餐吧的主题。在次入口对景的部分，我们设置了吊装亚克力变光装置，而亚克力的表面图形，正是运用了0101二进制代码模拟植物根系，作为发光的装饰图形。

In the main Entrance, we used red and black lava rocks to simulate the fault section of the soil, which echoes the theme of the theme of this restaurant & bar together with its pixelated logo.  We put a lifting auto-dimming acrylic device in the second entrance. The decoration on the surface of the device is made from binary codes, which simulate the roots of plants.

在空间的视觉中心点，我们运用橙色亚克力盒子设置了一个概念化的琥珀造型，也成为了串联前后场的视觉焦点。而卡座区的正上方，我们利用多条变光亚克力并结合双面镜自身反射、营造了一个时光隧道的概念，也是这家餐厅最被客人打卡拍照的点。在酒墙之中，我们还设置了四块屏幕，同样运用0101二进制代码的模拟根系图形，做了一个交互式动画，客人只要从入口进入，四块屏幕就会相应发生动态变化。

At the visual center of the room, we set a conceptualized amber made of orange acrylic boxes, which also becomes a visual focus that connects the front and the back.  We built a time tunnel right above the booth area. The tunnel is made of auto-dimming acrylic and double sided mirror, which made the area became the most popular corner in the restaurant. We also installed four screens inside the wall of wines and used binary codes to create an interactive animation that simulated the shape of roots. The four screens with automatically change its content if the customer enters.

在施工初期，为了寻找琥珀装置中更好的根系造型，我们进入山林采集不同的树枝。也去了当地的市场，淘到了一些二手电路板，并结合仿真植物，制作了科技与自然主题的艺术装置。室内所有的氛围光均可256色变色，并可根据不同主题营造不同的氛围。我们同时应用儿时的玩具—变形金刚的热感logo原理，结合植物图形，研发了一系列周边产品。我们希望在满足商业价值的基础上，设计可以从生活中引入更多的元素以及表现形式，引起当下年轻人的共鸣。

During the early phase of construction, we went into mountains and woods to collect different types of twigs for the root model in the amber device. We also went to the local market in order to find second-hand electronic boards, and later combined it with artificial plants to make an artistic installation that presents the communication between technology and nature. All the interior mood lights have 256 kinds of color for change, so the atmosphere of the restaurant can be changed according to different themes.  We also designed a series of side-line products based on the childhood toy——Transformers. The idea was inspired by the thermal logo of toys of Transformers, and we added some patterns of plants to it. On the basis of satisfying business values, we hope that our design can introduce more elements and expression from the daily life, which can help resonate with young people today.
