Interface Table explores a way in which two typically distinct flat surfaces can interface both visually and physically. Corrugated fiberglass, typically cheap and makeshift, is here used in an unusually delicate manner; the connection between the tabletop and legs is meticulously constructed. In this way, the lightness, translucency, and surprising robustness of the sheeting material is communicated. A carved wooden tray sits on top of the corrugated surface. This interface of tray and tabletop speaks to the traditional application of corrugated sheeting in construction. Concrete floors are often reinforced with corrugated material; the corrugation is essential in creating a stable, flat surface. On the table, the flat tray provides a transportable surface for cups and teapots, the adjacent corrugated surface provides an ideal space for books, magazines, and cell phones.
