在思考自己的作品与生活时，上海艺术家耿大有构想了一种居住空间，那是他身体的延伸。他渴望一个如同自然栖息地般的空间，能容纳他生活的所有面向：艺术、精神、音乐、读书会、派对、朋友、家人、游戏、烹饪，以及他的猫。耿大有不仅着眼于当下，更希望拥有一个能随时间共同成长、并具备足够灵活性以适应他未来演变的空间。

When considering his work and his life, Shanghai based artist Dayou Geng envisaged living in a space that was an extension of his physical being. He wanted a space that served as his natural habitat, that contained all of his many facets of his life: art, spirituality, music, hosting readings, parties, friends, family, gaming, cooking and his cat. Thinking not only about today, Dayou desired a space within which he can grow over time and that could be flexible enough to evolve with him.

耿大有的居所坐落于一栋前工业及办公楼的两层空间，被构想成一个艺术展览。其中住宅必需的各个空间与功能，均以独立展馆的形式呈现，各自拥有独特的材质感和个性。空间包含两间卧室、一间客房兼储物室、一个神龛、工作区、起居区、音乐角、用餐区、厨房，以及一个大型屋顶露台。耿大有钟爱的艺术品点缀于整个空间之中。

Spread across two floors of a former industrial and office building, Dayou’s residence was imagined to be an arts exhibition with each of the necessary spaces and functions of a residence represented as a pavilion with its own materiality and character. Included are two bedrooms, a guest room storage space, a shrine, a workspace, living area, an area for music, a dining area and a kitchen as well as a large roof terrace. Throughout the space are Dayou’s favourite art pieces.

设计的核心在于对空间流线的思考，以及风水原则的引导。空间布局打破了刻板的网格，通过精心设计并加以控制的曲线来柔化指向中央大空间的尖角。如此，居所实现了空间布局、功能规划与精神氛围的平衡。

The plan was defined by notions of how one is expected to move through the space and principals guided by Feng Shui, right down to the strategic and controlled curvatures to soften corners pointing towards the large central space on volumes that break the grid. In this way, the residence achieves a spatial, programmatic and spiritual balance.

A partially rotated portion of the each volume indicates where to access and enter the volume, and serves as an experience to prepare for entering that volume, immersed in its materiality, as one turns a corner. This approach means that the generic idea of a hallway and room with a door is challenged, and accessing a space becomes an intuitive experience. All of the spaces are seen from a main, flexible living space, that can accommodate Dayou’s readings and parties, as well as his affinity to create music, while his workspace, serving as a compliment to his larger workshop in the basement, is the most transparent space of the residence, giving Dayou the continuous connection and incentive to remain active that he desires.

在上层，耿大有拥有厨房、用餐区、另一间卧室，以及一个开阔的露台，可以在此欣赏周边景色，特别是建筑周围那些优美的大树。

On the upper level, Dayou has his kitchen, dining area, an additional bedroom as well as an expansive terrace from which he can enjoy views of the surrounding area with the beautiful larger trees around the building.
