“翩若惊鸿，婉若游龙”，常被人们用来形容秀美灵动的东方女子，也有人取其意向以表草书大家王羲之作品中的东方气韵。而当“之喜”艺术空间首现真容时，这句词仿佛终于落地、幻化为一个直观可感，可触碰、可探寻的能量场域，词中的灵动与诗意既为空间搭建起有形的结构排布，又以蜿蜒流动的空间情绪为它赋予了灵魂。

“Light like a startled swan and gentle as a dragon in flight” (lyrics from The Nymph of the Luo River) is often quoted to describe beautiful and intelligent females from the East, people also take it literally to praise the Eastern vibe in the works of Wang Xizhi, a big-name calligrapher in Chinese traditional cursive writing. The lyrics become real when “Zhi Xi” Art Space first reveals its true presence and are reflected in a visual, tangible and explorable space of energy. The flexibility and connotation in the poet serve both to design the well-laid structures of space and to add the finishing touch with changing emotions within the store.

之喜品牌的创始人是一位很传奇的女性，15年前对皮具产生浓厚兴趣，便凭着一腔热爱全身心投入研究，从纽约到巴黎，从米兰到伦敦，遍访皮具各大品牌。从皮包设计、打版，到图案的绘制全部亲历过，甚至为此开始研究传统皮雕和中国画传统晕染手法。热爱可抵岁月漫长，如今的之喜不仅凭借独树一帜的风格拥有大批拥趸，也成为故宫文创唯一指定的皮具品牌。

如何将这15 年的见闻、思考、品质通过空间语言、空间情绪传递给每一位匆匆路过或是移步走进的陌生人，并不是一件简单的事。对于这个直观可见、可感的线下空间，业主抱的期待也并不低。但是凭借多年的商业设计经验，借助空间情绪的拿捏，设计师高志强与之喜品牌创始人最终将一次甲乙方的合作以最为灵动柔软的方式落地呈现，抹去“寻找、购买”的无聊程式，为人们打造了一次流动的、层层递进的美感体验。

The founder of Zhi Xi is a legend of a woman. She developed a huge interest in leathers fifteen years ago and delved into the study of leathers with great passion. New York, Paris, Milan and London, she has made visits to all famous brands in the industry. She has done design, platemaking and pattern-drawing of leather bags, even begun to do research on the skills of classic leather carving and the use of water to polish works in traditional Chinese paintings. Long years seem to be shorter when you are doing things that you love. Today’s Zhi Xi has a large number of fans thanks to its unique style and it has become the only designated leather brand among the peripheral products of the Forbidden City.

It is no easy task to communicate 15 years of experience, thoughts and quality to each passerby or visitors unfamiliar with the store through spatial language and emotion. The proprietor holds high expectations towards this visual and sensory physical store. Designer Gao Zhiqiang, with years of experience in commercial spaces and the command of spatial emotions, worked with the founder of Zhi Xi to present the space in the most subtle and flexible way, avoiding a boring process of browsing and purchasing. This creates a fluid and gradually increasing sense of beauty.

虽然脱胎于东方文化，但之喜的产品风格却是现代的，品牌客群以年轻人为主。因此，在空间风格的考量上，设计师高志强选择以现代感元素为主，将东方气韵以相对视觉化、可感知的方式呈现，让空间与产品相互呼应，以行走动线引领进入者完成一次美感的体验。多年设计生涯为高志强训练出一套捻熟于心的商业设计逻辑，在店面只有100平方米的前提下，他自然地意识到，如果将店面空间可以从外部就一览无余，也许大部分人都不会愿意走进来。即便进来，过于短的行走路径也会直接导致停留时间的不足。“ 商业空间的设计，一定要基于商业逻辑之上来赋予美学，基于对顾客行为、感知、兴趣和体验的预判之上来做设计，往往更加考验设计师的综合水平。”高志强如是说。

Though born in the East, the brand offers products with a modern style, the younger generation constitutes the majority of its clientele. With this in mind, Gao has chosen to apply modern elements as the priority in design and presented the Eastern elements in a visualized and sensory manner, allowing the space to echo the products and leading customers to a perfect experience via a winding path in the store. Years of practices have built within the designer a responsive logic in commercial design. With only 100 square meters to work with, it came to Gao naturally that if people can see everything from the outside, they probably wouldn’t want to come inside; and even if they did, a short walking path will only lead to a lack of time in stay. “The design in commercial spaces has to showcase a sense of beauty based on business logic,” Gao said. “It is usually a bigger test on designer’s mixed ability in terms of doing designs on the presumption of the customers’ behavior, understanding, interests and experience.”

基于以上考量，他首先选择以一圈 LED 灯带对店铺的外立面进行装饰，让店面在100米外便能轻易识别。而后再以艺术化橱窗另人们产生更大的兴趣。内部则用“片墙”的手法将客人的视线进行适当阻挡，让人们对店内充满好奇。同时以竹影掩映，让来者恍如信步于闲庭间，移步换景，享受知竹之乐。

Bearing this in mind, Gao furnished the external walls with a circle of LED lights, allowing people to easily identify the store in 100 meters. He used artsy shopping windows to create a more intriguing effect for customers. Inside the walls he placed translucent French windows to smartly block customers’ view, leaving them interested. The space is decorated with bamboo as if visitors are taking an idle stroll in the room. A change of pace, a change of space, customers will be delighted to learn about bamboos.

串联这些片墙分割出的小空间的，也是展厅中最具诗意的元素，是一条纯白色的“飘带”。它的灵感来自敦煌壁画中的飞天飘带，置于之喜空间之中，则以行云流水之势为整体设计赋予灵魂。高度恰好触手可及的飘带与层层递进的片墙结构，一横一竖，一虚一实，一静一动，搭建起空间构架的同时，也为整体氛围赋予了丰富而灵动的灵魂。在中国水墨画的主色黑白灰之外，高志强取之喜的品牌形象色红色作为空间中唯一亮色作为点缀。呼应品牌视觉元素的同时也让素净的室内空间变得热烈而灵动。

A pure white winding stand that resembles a piece of floating silk connects all the small spaces separated by the translucent windows. It is the most poetic element in the room. Gao has drawn inspirations from the floating belts painted in Dunhuang Magao Grottoes. Such an installation makes the space smooth and is the key element in his design. The stand, which is within one’s easy reach, and the progressive French windows are placed horizontally and vertically, one is solid and the other semi-transparent, a combination of static and dynamic, together they not only form the main frame of the space but also add a touch of flexibility and richness within the environment. Apart from black, white and grey, the primary colors used in traditional Chinese brush painting, Gao applied red, which is the color of the brand’s image, as the only bright color in the space for embellishment. This arrangement speaks to the brand’s visual image and adds some welcoming and vibrant air to the simple indoor design.

“我理解的东方美学是不着象的，是体现在意境和气韵上的。”如高志强所说，对书画的涉猎，让他十分懂得中国书画的追求，所谓“画者东西影”。在他看来，中国画自明代黄公望和倪云林之后由写实而进入写意，才真正进入了中国艺术的最高境界。

也许正是了悟了这一点，高志强在作品中从不过于强调个人风格的表达，或是对某种标志性外化设计元素的反复使用。他尊重商业逻辑，并在此之上推演出一套设计思路，而后让设计手法自然而然地显现，以达成美学上的诉求。所谓“道内而象外”，便是如此。之喜艺术空间的诞生，也再次印证了这一点，空间语言与品牌内核的高度契合，使得设计过程省去了相互博弈的消耗，而两者一脉相承的、对东方文化的溯源，最终让每一个进入者收获了一场浸入式地美感巡礼。

“The art from the East, as I understand, is less about the image itself and more about the connotation and the vibe,” Gao said. Through a wide range of reading on calligraphy and paintings, he has developed a deep understanding about what these traditional Chinese arts are pursuing, namely, what appears in a painting is merely an impression and far from reality. From his perspective, Chinese traditional painting transformed from realism to impressionism after Huang Gongwang and Ni Yunlin in the Ming dynasty, and it has entered into an artistic peak since then.

With this insight, Gao never adds excessive personal touch to his design, neither a repeated use of a certain element that is symbolic in nature. He respects for business logic and forms his design philosophy that subtly presents his ideas in work to achieve an artistic expression. This process explains a saying that goes “An image created represents the philosophy of the creator”. The space of Zhi Xi is a testimony to the saying. Its spatial language and the core value of the brand have reached a perfect match without wasting time on struggles during the process of design. The design of the space and the brand follow the same culture of the East, which eventually brings an immersive experience of beauty for customers.
