画板桥（Easel Bridge）位于浙江省莫干山镇庾村，是一座跨越阜溪的步行桥，长约10米，宽约2米。

The Easel Bridge is located in Yucun, Moganshan Town, Zhejiang Province. Spanning Fuxi Creek, the pedestrian bridge is approximately 10 meters long and 2 meters wide.

项目最初来自由 designverse（设计宇宙）与德清文旅主办的“莫干山镇·阜溪七桥概念设计国际竞赛”，并作为6号桥获奖方案获得实施机会。竞赛涉及阜溪沿岸的七座桥梁，行波工作室选择其中三座展开设计。

The project originated from the “Moganshan Town · Fuxi Creek Seven Bridges Conceptual Design International Competition,” organized by designverse and Deqing Culture and Tourism. The proposal for Bridge No. 6 was selected as one of the winning entries and was subsequently given the opportunity to be built. The competition involved seven bridges along Fuxi Creek, from which XBTW Office selected three to develop as a related series.

设计始于对桥梁剖面的思考，并以“四个斜面”作为贯穿三个方案的基本空间策略。通过改变斜面的长度、角度与组合方式，三座桥分别回应不同的场地条件和使用需求。

The design began with an exploration of the bridge section, using “four inclined planes” as the basic spatial strategy shared by all three proposals. By varying the length, angle, and configuration of these planes, each bridge responded to its particular site conditions and intended uses.

在莫干山的自然环境与庾村的村落语境中，步行桥不仅是连接两岸的交通设施，也可以成为一处公共空间。设计通过“四个斜面”的组合，引导人们形成不同的身体姿态，进而改变观看和感知周围环境的方式。桥梁剖面由此超越了单纯的结构和交通属性，成为一个鼓励观赏、倚靠、停留与互动的空间装置。最终，参赛的三座桥中有一座得以建成，也就是画板桥。

Within the natural landscape of Moganshan and the village setting of Yucun, XBTW Office considered a pedestrian bridge not only as infrastructure connecting two sides of the creek, but also as a public space. Through the composition of four inclined planes, the design explores how different surfaces can guide bodily postures and reshape the way people perceive their surroundings. The bridge section therefore moves beyond its conventional structural and circulatory role, becoming a spatial installation that encourages viewing, leaning, pausing, and interaction. Of the three competition proposals, one was ultimately completed: the Easel Bridge.

画板桥坐落于一个以莫干山镇文化景观为核心的滨水商业区内。周边分布着燎原剧场、零售空间和餐厅，共同构成了小镇充满活力的日常。这座桥也因此成为区域慢行系统中的一个重要节点。

The bridge is situated within a waterfront commercial district centered around the cultural landscape of Moganshan Town. The nearby Liaoyuan Theater, retail spaces, and restaurants collectively contribute to the everyday vitality of Yucun. The bridge also serves as an important node within the area’s pedestrian network.

在这一活跃的滨水环境中，莫干山的山景、水系与镇景相互交织，构成一幅连续的画卷。针对这一独特的场地关系，设计将桥梁一侧转化为如同画板般的倾斜面，供游客放置画板、现场写生；另一侧的斜面则转化为靠背，吸引人们背靠大山、面朝水乡，一边休憩，一边欣赏他人的现场创作。

In this active setting, the mountains, water, and townscape of Moganshan overlap to form a continuous landscape. In response to this particular relationship with the site, one side of the bridge is transformed into an inclined surface resembling an easel, where visitors can set up their drawing boards and sketch the surrounding scenery. The inclined surface on the opposite side becomes a backrest, inviting people to lean against it, rest with the mountains behind them, and look toward the creek and village while watching others draw.

远眺之下，画板桥轻盈而静谧地融入阜溪沿岸的自然景观。桥梁主体由波纹金属板和金属圆管构成。画板一侧采用半透明磨砂波纹板，对侧则设置柚木靠背，为金属结构增添温暖而细腻的触感。

Viewed from a distance, the Easel Bridge sits lightly and quietly within the natural landscape along Fuxi Creek. The main body of the bridge is constructed from corrugated metal panels and round metal tubes. Translucent frosted corrugated panels are used on the easel side, while teak backrests are integrated into the opposite side, bringing warmth and a more tactile quality to the metal structure.

为了让“四个斜面”的构成拥有更大的灵活性，设计采用梁桥作为主体结构系统，使斜面从主要的承重作用中解放出来，能够更加自由地回应空间与功能需求。在梁体结构之外，桥身由2米宽的模数单元组合而成，每个单元微旋2至3度，形成细微的空间偏移，让人们在桥上行走、驻足和远眺时，获得更加放松而富有趣味的身体体验。

To provide greater flexibility for the composition of the four inclined planes, the bridge adopts a beam structure as its primary structural system. This releases the inclined planes from the main load-bearing role, allowing them to respond more freely to spatial and functional requirements. Beyond the main beams, the bridge body is composed of 2-meter-wide modular units. Each unit is rotated slightly by 2 to 3 degrees, creating subtle spatial shifts and offering a more relaxed and engaging bodily experience as people walk, pause, and look out from the bridge.

从竞赛中的三座桥，到最终建成的一座桥，画板桥保留了最初关于“四个斜面”的设计思考。它试图通过一次小尺度的介入，将日常基础设施转化为可以停留、观察、写生和交流的公共空间。

From the three bridges developed for the competition to the single bridge that was eventually built, the Easel Bridge retains the original exploration of the four inclined planes. Through a small-scale intervention, the project transforms everyday infrastructure into a public space for pausing, observing, drawing, and gathering.
