The British architectural firm RMJM recently won the observation tower competition in Doumen district of Zhuhai, China.The unique tower will become a new local landmark.The design inspiration comes from the unique water culture of Doumen district.TheFish jumping gesture symbolizes good prospects of Doumen.Meanwhile, the axial symmetry shape of the tower provides the full range of view to the guests. The lower observation platform at 88 m is protected from the windby a glass enclosure, the higher platform at 93 meters provides an open view to the Huangyang River.

塔身中部膨胀,释放更多的内部活动空间,塔身整体扭曲,为塔顶获取最佳的景观朝向,此方案在景观塔原型的基础上,膨胀、扭曲形成一种自然的仿生形态。

除了乘坐观光电梯直通塔顶,本方案还提供80多米高的徒步登塔路径,并在其中插入空间互动平台供游客登塔中休憩。顶层观光层采取双层观景平台设计,在88米层设环绕玻璃墙,有效减少强风对观光的干扰。另设93米开放式观光设计,黄杨河岸美景一览无余。

People can walk up the experience stairs with several interaction platformson the way to the top.The observation platform on the top has double viewing platforms. On platform is located at 88 m surrounded by glass, reducing the effect from strong winds. The upper platform at 93 meter will provide boundless views towards the Huangyang River and the beautiful surroundings.

本案利用参数化设计技术,为了便于建造,结构体系进行逻辑处理,塔楼主体结构由12根二维曲线旋转而成,在此基础上生成次结构,作为表皮单元的网架,成中心对成形式。

The design tools, which are used to generate the shape of the tower, are parametric design modeling tools. The main structure of the tower consists of twelve two-dimensional curves, which are divided in a second step for the sub frame. The sub-frame serves as the holding for the 1400 panels, which will create the iconic look of the tower.
