Sohyun Yun是一位来自韩国的设计师，她认为设计的创意来自于生活经验，而她希望通过自己的设计让世界变得更快乐，为此“要快乐”便成为她设计的标准。这把“层次”之椅也体现出她这样的理念。

层次椅子是一把透明的椅子，坐垫和靠背上都各自设置了能容纳1－3片薄片的空档，这些空档可以插入专门为这把椅子定制的装饰图案，而这些图案之间本身也是透明的，能够单独使用，并且还可以重叠组成新的图案，从而让椅子拥有千变万化，可以定制的表情。这样，这把椅子既可以适应少女口味，也可以适应艺术家口味，还能适应同一个业主在不同时期的心情和需求转变。每个人的个性都能在这个“层次”之椅上的到体现，为人们带来快乐。

当然，快乐是不够的，这把椅子在设计师看来更具有可持续性，因为它具有可变性。在这个快消费时代，人们用廉价的价格购买到了时尚，但是又很快抛弃购买的产品进入 下一轮时尚追逐和消费。而这把可以改变外形的椅子，不仅能够适应购买者具有变化的需求，也能在互动中成为具有情感的家具。百变又具有可持续型，真是有型还环保呢。

The Layer is a customizing chair designed for individuality and sustainability. User can make their own chair which reflects their tastes by using each image. This project started from a situation of our society. Because Normally I think Design is connected to our society. I am greatly interested in our society or phenomenon around us. Because when i think about design and brainstorming, I used to applied phenomenon in the industrial design field from different area for example cooking to design or nature phenomenon to design and the concept to design. Then I can remind of unexpected works unexpected idea and that product has a new format to the customer. Those are my process to design. Return to the Layer. People have their own identity, but they often don’t express their character. People used to follow the trends and consume goods which have no personality. After the products are out of style then it is used to be thrown away. I am concerned about this situation. I think if people have their own product, they will not throw away their products easily. Furthermore, If that were to happen, people can pass down their furniture to descend. Because people can get a new chair by changing the layer. I chose the chair to express my concept because the chair had used as metaphor of men. Using customizing layer, I expect to sustainability and individuality. As for the inspiration, In Adobe Photoshop, people put different layers together and that layers finally become a good masterpiece. It is really interesting, because separate layers become different work, and it works express maker’s own identity. Like this I want to put this concept to industrial design field and i think it will be a new format of furniture. And also in industrial society. People can make their own chair by putting various layers as if people select songs that they want to listen. Layer focus on the contents. Because people usually change the furniture to change the interior. It is usual to throw away the old furniture at this time. I considered how people can use furniture continuously. If they have affection to furniture and if they can change the contents of furniture, they would use their own furniture continuously. With people’s own stories, own tastes, the chair can be born newly.

I want to tell you about Individuality of this Layer. There are sample designs provided as a concept. For example, paintings, cartoons, textures. This chair has potential. This brochure is for the graduation. And it shows how layer has potential, If people want to get a classical chair they just buy the classical layer, and if they want to get a funky chair then they can get a layer printed funky images. It can be everything,even a famous designer’s chair. Because it can be born as the user’s imagination. And it will reflect their own preference. For example, let’s suppose there are two people. One of them is a boy and another is a girl. If a boy who likes cartoons, the boy can have the cartoon’s chair or draw something on it. If a girl who has girly taste, the chair can be artwork as the user’s tastes. Like this the reason why i chose the magrittes painting on layer panel, I am also a customer, i love magrittes when my trip to Belgium I went to Brussels only for visiting to margrittes museum.

In addition, I want to tell your about sustainability of the Layer. Changeable design leads to long term use. This chair can be appreciated by people when they are not using the chair. So the user can customize the chair by changing the layers as every atmosphere and feeling. The Chair is composed of an acrylic frame and acrylic panel. Chair is transparent because it is made by only customer’s preference, so it has to be transparent. And it will be different print. Limited numbered prints provided with a chair. So people feel exclusivity as well. This chair could be utilized in various ways. Furthermore, it can change the mood easily. For example, when people want to change the mood, then they used to change the items and want to change the furniture for changing the mood. At that time, people used to throw away the items to get a new one then it become a trash. But if they can change inside, and if they can have a new one by changing inside, then they don’t need to throw away their own product. If people passed down this chair, people who get a second hand chair can get a new one by changing layers.

If people can organize their items and make furniture as mood or as their taste, then they are going to have a great affection to their items. They can have fun with a chair. Because it is made for the only one person. And also It will be the only one chair which has own identity in the world. Because of that, they don’t need to buy a new one. So, Layer can be the solution to the industrial society. Everyone can be creator and have identified with the Layer. Because ready-made goods in our society are similar to us. Through the Layer made by personal preference, I expect people to get attached to the object and expect to sustainable design. Through the Layer made by personal preference, I expect people to reflect their identity from child to adult to express their own attraction.

Till now, I talked about the information of layer, and I am preparing series of this layer chair.
