Appreciation towards Original Design Studio, TJAD for providing the following description:

与一般的项目不同的是，“东风农场”的使用者正是当初的建设者，整整一代人在这里扎根、成长，其中的一草一木、一砖一石都藏着这代人的回忆。“老场部”这个名字本身就有一种让人回望过去的力量，而今时今日，这里的任务，是展望未来。

花博会配套项目中，东风会客厅项目有其特殊的意味：作为花博会的配套设施，既要立足当下，但场所本身的转变又串联着过去和将来。老场部承载着过去的记忆、带着新一轮的开发诉求启动了整个东平特色小镇的建设。如何将历史记忆与未来发展诉求相结合成为了项目进展的难点。

Unlike ordinary projects, the users of the site are the same people who built it in the first place, and a generation of people have grown up here. Every grass, tree, brick and stone in the site contains their memories. The name ‘Old Field’ itself has an air of looking back to the past. But nowadays, looking forward to the future has become a new task for the long-abandoned field.

As a supporting project of China Flower Expo, the Dongfeng Parlor project has its own special meaning. Although it is a project based on the present as a supporting facility for China Flower Expo, it is a link between the past and the future. The old field is the memory of the past, and its new development has initiated the construction of the whole Dongping Special Town. How to combine the historical memory with the future development demands has become the focus of our consideration.

水上会议中心
WATER CONFERENCE CENTER

会议中心承担相对独立的功能，在选址时应与小镇其他功能区相对分置，同时遵循场景视野的设计原则，设计希望尽可能的避免对既有植被和生态环境造成影响。因此最后选定在基地西南角废弃的鱼塘处。

The conference center has a relatively independent function and should be relatively separated from the other areas of the town. At the same time, following the principle of the scene view design, we hope to avoid the impact on other vegetation as much as possible. Therefore, the site was finally selected at the abandoned fish pond in the southwest corner of the base.

保留原有水塘是确定下来的第一项原则，与水相依相邻，借水成景才能让原有场地的优势发挥到极致。水上会议中心只是轻轻的搭在了水面之上，周边富有野趣的景观成为了水上会议中心最突出的外部条件。

Retaining the original water pond is the first principle determined. In order to Maximize the advantage of the original site, we decide to put the volume adjacent to the water and consider water itself as a landscape. The water conference center is gently built on top of the water, and the surrounding wild landscape has become the most prominent external conditions.4

水上会议中心坐落在鱼塘的东北角，可以充分将水面以及场地外的大地景观纳入观景视野。作为内部水面，水池通过坝口与市政水系相连，可以有效维持水面高度的稳定性，使观景平台拥有较高的亲水性，同时营造漂浮在水面上的会议中心的视觉感受。

The water conference center is located in the northeast corner of the fish pond, which can fully integrate the water and landscape outside into the view. As the internal water surface, the pond is connected to the municipal water system through the dam opening, which can effectively maintain the stability of the water surface height and make the viewing platform highly hydrophilic, while creating the visual feeling of floating on the water.

水上会议建设时定性为临时建筑，需要满足拆除后异地重新组装的需要。结合地块自然风貌的特征，最终选择钢木结构体系营造整个建筑，其中所有构件都在工厂进行预制，最后现场拼装，以最大程度满足工期要求。选材上，木材温暖的气质融入整体环境中。

The water conference center is characterized as a temporary building, which needs to meet the needs of dismantling and reassembling on other sites. Considering the characteristics of the natural landscape of the site, we finally chose the steel and wood structure system to construct it. All the components were prefabricated in the factory and finally assembled on site to meet the schedule, while also taking advantage of the warmth of the wood and integrating it into the environment.

相对于标准化、规模化、内向型的传统会议模式，本次设计充分利用周边的景观资源，打造特色型、生态型、景观化的特色会议中心，符合崇明生态岛的总体区域要求。同时希望水上会议中心融入整体环境，采取弱化主次立面的设计方式，设计塑造了多个与周围场所互动的机会，通过一个向心型的结构形成满足150人会议功能的大空间，可从进行多向度观赏。VIP室延半径方向向外延伸，具有独立观景平台，保证了舒适度与私密性。向心型的形态也使得其在最小占地的情况小拥有最大的使用面积。

Compared with the standardized, large-scale and inward-looking traditional conference model, this design makes full use of the surrounding landscape resources to create a characteristic, ecological and landscaped conference center, which comply with the overall requirements of Chongming Island. At the same time, we hoped to integrate the water conference center into the environment and weaken the primary and secondary facades in order to create multiple opportunities to interact with the surrounding places. What’s more, we design a centripetal structure of a large space to contain 150 people, which can be viewed from multiple directions. The VIP room extends outward in the radius direction with an independent viewing platform to ensure comfort and privacy. The centripetal shape also makes it possible to have the largest usable space with the smallest land area.
