nendo为杭州KUKA家具设计公司举办的“无限家居设计”展带来新的家具作品。KUKA以软装沙发及休息椅设计而闻名，此次家居展的主题为“智慧设计”。这个主题另nendo思考如何表达柔软，他希望可以用不同的家具表达方式来诠释这种柔软舒适的体验感。设计摒弃了传统的一般性填充材料，如泡沫，棉，羽毛，弹簧和垫子，改为采用1.5毫米的塑料板，这种材料的柔软度可以根据层压厚度和弯折方式而展现些许变化。座椅的柔软度可以通过控制层压板之间的空间量来进行调试，层压板弯折的曲率也可以反映出座椅的坚硬程度。如此，家具便可以既满足人的舒适性要求又展现出坚实的外形和框架结构。这种形式所表现的柔软并不是显而易见的，却可以通过体验而感知。设计师希望通过这一系列设计来激发人的“智慧设计”

The collection designed for the exhibition “Home Living Boundless Design” hosted by KUKA, a furniture company based in Hangzhou, China.The theme given to us was ‘intelligence’, and the characteristics of KUKA is a range of upholstered sofas and lounge chairs. These made us focus on an intrinsic value of softness, and decide to take a different approach in expressing soft, comfortable furniture. To push the boundaries of comfort, rather than using standard padding materials such as urethane foam, cotton, plumage, springs or indeed cushions, we encouraged to use 1.5mm thick polycarbonate sheets, whose softness can be changed through lamination and how it is bent.Depending on the amount of space between laminated layers softness can be altered; with decreased curvature comes increased stiffness.In this way furniture can be made that is soft at the point of human contact but strong at top board and the joint of the frame.While what is considered soft for furniture is not essentially visible we attempted to and make it visually apparent, in doing so we hope to inspire a conscious perception of this in people’s minds and “intelligence.”

This collection will be exhibited until June 11 at Zhejiang Art Museum in China.
