Afternoon V是广州的一家手作面包店，坐落在广州市天河区一个安静的老社区里。

Afternoon V is a handmade bread shop located in a quaint old neighborhood in Tianhe District, Guangzhou.

场地位于社区内街的凹位，由于和主干道有一定的距离，加上疏于管理，这里一度成为被废弃物料和电动车霸占的萧条角落。因此，重新梳理入口空间，成为了我们此次设计的重点。

The site is nestled in a recessed area of the community street. Due to its distance from the main road and lack of maintenance, it was once a desolate corner taken over by discarded materials and electric bikes. Therefore, revamping the entrance space became the focal point of our design.

设计策略
 Design Strategy

空间原为两家快餐店，我们将中间的隔断打通，营造出完整的三进空间，第一进为半户外院落，第二进为咖啡吧台与室内点餐/用餐区，第三进则为后厨空间。我们认为：将入口和庭院对外共享，用分享代替占据，让空间成为社区里一扇会呼吸的窗，才有机会释放更大的可能性。

Originally comprised of two fast food shops, we decided to combine the spaces, creating a seamless three-section layout. The first section serves as a semi-outdoor courtyard, the second section is a coffee bar and indoor dining area, and the third section houses the kitchen. We believe that by sharing the entrance and courtyard with the community, opting for a sharing rather than occupying approach, the space can become a breath of fresh air for the neighborhood, allowing for greater possibilities.

三组空间层层递进，被半透明的PC波浪板上悬窗串联，手作面包工坊的温度与气息伴随着下午的阳光，在老社区中弥漫开来。至此，一扇会呼吸的面包之窗已初现雏形。

The three spaces progress in layers and are connected by semi-transparent corrugated polycarbonate panel. The temperature and aroma of handmade bread fill the afternoon sunlight, spreading throughout the old community. At this point, a breathing window for bread is taking shape.

从自然中拾取，再以最自然的状态呈现
Drawing inspiration from the natural elements,
presenting in the most organic manner

与常规糕点店相反的是，我们不打算塑造橱窗或者布景，而是选择向街区学习，让肌理自然地发酵、生长。 空间采用/保留的材质都是城市中十分常见的 —— PC波浪板、实木多层板、木丝吸音板以及打拆后留下的原墙面肌理。

In contrast to conventional patisseries, our aim is not to create elaborate display windows. Instead, we took cues from the local surroundings, allowing textures to naturally ferment and evolve. The materials adopted and preserved within the space are commonly found in urban environments, such as PC wave boards, solid wood multi-layer board, wood fiber acoustic panels, and the exposed textured walls from previous demolitions.

我们希望通过适宜的材质选择以及照明设计，在这个狭小的空间里营造出美观、温暖且可触摸的状态，让到店的顾客从感官上联想到一颗面包的发酵、烘烤和出炉，切身感受到一家手作面包店的态度。

Through meticulous material selection and thoughtful lighting design, we sought to create an aesthetically pleasing, cozy, and tangible atmosphere within this compact space. This environment evokes the sensory experience of bread fermentation, baking, and freshly-baked loaves, encapsulating the ethos of a handmade bread shop.

进行空间设计的同时，我们来到了面包店主理人的工作室，一起为即将到来的新空间制作“面包灯”。我们在工作室里绘制草图，制作骨架，尝试用不同的方式编织它的形体，最后再将它送进烤箱，等待它的成长。

While engaging in the spatial design process, we also visited the bread shop owner’s workshop to collaboratively craft a “bread lamp” for the forthcoming space. Working within the workshop, we sketched, constructed frameworks, and experimented with various weaving techniques to bring the lamp’s form to life. Eventually, we placed it in the oven, eagerly awaiting its final growth.

老社区里温暖明亮的窗子，在下午弥漫着面包的香气，用面包制作的吊灯，散发着微光。人们在这里闲聊休憩，享用咖啡，带走自己喜爱的面包。我们认为这种朴实而又柔软的角落，是城市生活中非常珍贵的存在。

The bright and warm windows, the aroma emanating from freshly baked bread, and the soft glow emitted by the pendant lamp made of bread, all together, bring warmth to this old community. This corner, humble yet comforting, provides a cherished retreat for urban dwellers to engage in leisurely conversations, savor a cup of coffee, and take home their favorite bread. We firmly believe that such unassuming yet tender spaces are precious gems in the urban fabric of life.
