十九世纪晚期，许多大型欧洲港口建造了巨大的钢制转运架，一种介于桥梁和缆索铁道之间的结构。一道桁架横跨水面上空，悬挂的缆车借此在两岸之间来往，运送人员和车辆。大型游船依然可以舒适地从桁架下方穿过。如今，这些转运架之一依旧矗立在毕尔巴鄂。

Towards the end of the 19th century, many of the largest European ports built majestic steel transborders – structures that seem to be somewhere between a bridge and a funicular. A truss was built high above the water, with a gondola hanging from it that would travel from shore to shore, transporting both people and vehicles. The mighty sailing ships could still comfortably sail under the high truss. One of these still stands in Bilbao.

Late in the 20th century, a flash flood swept through Chrastava, demolishing all the town’s bridges and footbridges. As a cheaper and quicker replacement for one of the footbridges, we built a wooden transborder in 27 days. Floods rather than ships pass under the truss, and our transborder is still standing.

What was intended as a temporary substitute for a footbridge became an unexpected attraction. Children and adults alike often ride across the river and back, just for the joy of it.
