A unique project in an Arab city in Israel is a collaboration between a visionary director and an interior designer who specializes in combining innovative educational environments and original design.

专为一年级学生而打造的学习区域旨在训练孩子们的想象能力。为了缓和从幼儿园到一年级的过渡,设计团队在一些特殊的细节上做足了功夫。该综合体在反映环境友好的设计的同时,也带给了学生们更为愉快的学习体验。在某种程度上,环境本身就富有教育的能力,它可以塑造有创造力的思考者,鼓励人们进行实验和探索。

The area designated for First Grade students was designed to allow for imaginative learning. Special detail was paid to soften the transition from Kindergarten to First Grade. The complex was created reflecting an environmentally friendly design while promoting an enjoyable learning experience. The environment is an educator within itself, shaping creative thinkers and encouraging experimentation and exploration.

The space was created using a contemporary modern design language but incorporates elements of Arabic culture, taking inspiration from the embroidery in traditional dresses. The black, white and red color scheme accompanied by trees draws inspiration from Arab folktales. An interactive library is the focal point of the 130 sq.m space, combining sitting and standing niches shaped as round and triangular geometrics. A famous poem in Arabic is carved into the natural wood of the large piece. The library stores a variety of didactic games for the children to play with. The wooden cabinet doors are affixed with decorative graphic elements.

Study areas throughout the space are defined by different themes: A wooden wall with a map of the world is the focal point of the area focused around geography. A large interactive wall puzzle gives children the ability to move around different pieces. The puzzle pieces bear the names of the continents, as well as animals native to each continent.

Alongside the map of the world is a library wall designed by the contours of the city of Tamra and Masgeda. Shelves are affixed to the wall, holding books for the children to take at their leisure.

In the center of the geography and library corner is a padded island of trees for reading and lounging. This area is enclosed by a partition designed as a large wooden old-fashioned calculator. Fingers and hands demonstrating different exercises are engraved into the wooden facade.

On one end of the space sits a wooden house with graphic elements of traditional ornamentation. This structure contains a stage used for children’s performances and to practice various language skills through dramatic games. Large upholstered cushions designed as numbers are scattered throughout the space, used for sitting and learning numbers.

A structure of rotating wooden blocks is an area for play and learning. On one side of the cube, a letter is engraved in Arabic and on the other is an image beginning with that letter. A long table is decorated with wooden surfaces of different colors that create backgammon and checkers boards.
