As one of regional Australia’s largest urban renewal projects, the 10 hectare ‘Junction Place’ is a collaboration between state and local government, breathing new life into central Wodonga, heart of Victoria’s North Eastern food bowl.

沃东加枢纽站项目改造重点在于已废弃的但具有历史意义的沃东加火车站和站台，旨在为周边社区居民打造公共场地、住宅、商业、零售等多种功能空间。设计师以可持续发展土地资源为规划和设计主导原则，保留并重新利用遗留下来的铁路基础设施和材料，不仅讲述一段丰富的乡村历史，更重新定义该区域的人文精神，并促进该城市和社区的发展。

Centred on the decommissioned historic Wodonga railway station and rail yards, Junction Place will progressively transform the site into a vibrant mix of public spaces, residential, retail and commercial precincts to service its surrounding communities. The retention, protection and reuse of heritage railway infrastructure and onsite materials within a sustainable land use master plan and design celebrates a rich rural history, defines the civic-ness of the precinct and its spaces, and speaks to the future of the city and its evolving community.

设计将街道、公共空间和历史建筑有效融合，使用场地回收的材料，如大石块、砖块、铁路灯具等，并加入现代元素，如玻璃扶手、照明和水景，让历史与现代完美结合。设计的原则在于创造一系列能够满足社区活动的需求的场所，例如集市、庆典广场和临时设立的咖啡店，这些活动都将沿着原有铁路轨道新建的“漫步大道”而开设。面朝沃东加市主街道坐落着一个全新的城市绿色广场，广场设有水景以及铁路架桥机改造的凉亭，是一个充满绿意的城市开放空间。

The design of the streets and public places was a blend of heritage buildings, reused site materials such as large scale stone, brick and railway lights and contemporary insertions, such as glass balustrades, lighting and water features. Fundamental to the design was the creation of spaces that supported community eventsevents, such as farmer markets, celebration days and pop up cafes. These events follow the original railway tracks in the newly developed “Promenade”. The Green Square that fronts the main street of Wodonga, invites people into the new precinct, through water feature, repurposed railway gantries transformed into an arbour, green open space and casual recreation.
