bleebla® is a Portuguese brand with bilingual online store, created in 2014.Bleebla is our alter-ego. Its amusing phonetics, which may be associated with a babbling of unintelligible sounds, leads us to a world that we try to translate into objects that combine material and sensory traditions with contemporary concepts and techniques. Our goal is to produce simple, timeless, high-quality objects that appeal to ageless senses and emotions. Wepursue this goal throughout the entire design and production process, focusing on details, on the search and
selection of raw materials, on careful manufacturing and packaging choices.
The bleebla collection will gradually bring together a series of products associated with 4 themes – jungle, farm, sea and forest.Initially it will include 3 products from the JUNGLE theme and the remaining themes will be gradually launched.
The 4 themes of the “Animal Box” – jungle, farm, sea and forest – were originally designed in 2009, being later selected for and displayed at the 1stPOPs – Original Portuguese Products – Exhibition organized by the Serralves Museum Shop. After a hibernation and incubation period, we are now launching these products with new materials and based on a new concept: the bleebla collection.
animal box – jungle
a puzzle with a wild heart
The “Animal Box” is a rectangular box with one animated side that shows 10 animals peeking out of its regular geometry. Each animal finds its shelter in the shape of a negative carved in the box, creating a three-dimensional puzzle that explores the solid/void relationship. Out of the box, your imagination will lead the animals to explore the world.
The “Animal Box” represents the animal world through its stylized shapes that combined with the use of natural materials and their expressive qualities provide strong visual stimuli. Agglomerated cork and sycamore wood have a smooth and warm touch, as well as a fine and homogenous texture, providing a unique sensory experience
stamp box – jungle
for wild stamping
The “Stamp Box” is composed of 10 animal-shaped stamps based on Woodcutting, an ancient engravingtechnique. So, the “Stamp Box” is completely made of solid sycamore wood, taking advantage of its texture for the image produced by the stamps. The material’s simplicity stimulates a creative and diversified use that may also be combined, both with traditional stamp pads, and with different types of paints that maybe applied using the hands, or a brush or roll. Each stamp also finds its negative in a square base, creating a puzzle that explores the solid/void relationship.
animals – elephant
the big friend
These “Animals” are a selection of animals from the “Animal Box” that comprises large-sized objects. In this case, each animal’s stylized shape is associated with a fabric-lined flexible material, whose expressivecharacteristics provide strong visual and tactile stimuli. Due to their size and to the flexible nature of their filling material, our “Animals” gain new interacting possibilities.
