Agricultural buildings are increasingly orphaned by changes in our social structure. As part of the alpine architecture, however, many of these buildings have a high identification character apart from the protection of the monuments and, when they are in a good state of construction, store CO2 in their building materials. Stall B stands about one kilometer southwest of the Tschaggun church just before the Zelfenschanze, the building is a hundred years old. It is listed in the records of the Montafon stand as a wooded building, presumably parts of the building from the 18th century, the umbrella is most likely from 1914. The accompanying farmhouse was demolished in the early 1970s.

The stable building sits about one meter below the adjacent Zelfenstraße in a small trough.The slender building and the longitudinal gables lie in the fall line of the slightly sloping terrain.The natural slope is clearly visible on the brick-built base on the north-west side of the building. Here, thanks to the surrounding meadows, the building still stands freely in the landscape. This quality is borne out by the restrained design of the open space, which largely dispenses with land adjustments and minimizes plantings in the area of the house. An exception is the new dry stone wall, which bridges the gap between the entrance and the street. Here follows the dry wall in one to two meters distance of the streets. Untreated wooden façades color changing from black over brown-orange to silbergrau depending on the orientation of shades. This property takes up the copper roof on the south west side and supplements the color spectrum in the direction of green.
The aim of the planning was the transfer of the farmhouse into a high-quality residential house. The outer skin is to be supplemented by a few openings, which make the new use readable and correspond to the precision of modern times and the clarity of the substance. A large part of the existing construction was maintained unchanged. In the living area, the existing supporting structure was intercepted and derived via the exterior wall construction to generate a column-free space.The 80cm thick broken brickwork is cut across the wall of width of 2m and supplemented to make room for the new staircase and storage.
The south-east surface of the saddle roof is fully equipped with integrated PV and solar thermal modules. The roof pitch of 35 ° and the orientation of the building make this roof half an ideal energy efficient. Thus, about 200% of the power requirement and the majority of the hot water or the heating requirement can be produced locally. In the Hochwinter, the building is about a month in the shadow of Hora. During this time, a piece of wood storage heater with heating feed supplies all the required heat. A ventilation system with heat recovery ensures low heat losses and sufficient air circulation.
