本项目的目的在于通过研究空间与物体之间的关系来创造一系列新型的家具。

The intention of this project is to create a series of new types of furniture by researching the relation between space and object.

人类已经制定了一系列度量单位(如英寸和米等),也创造出了一系列相应的测量工具(如直尺和卷尺等),以确定空间和物体的尺度。从那时起,设计师便凭借着这些单位和工具来测量空间,并开始思考其所设计出的物品应该如何适应现实情况。可以说,度量单位已经成为了人们定义三维空间和物体尺寸的标准。在本项目中,金属结构不仅量化了空间,还代表了度量单位和测量的概念。设计师将金属结构与弯曲的胶合板组装在一起,形成了一系列家具体量的构件。同时这也代表着一个概念的可视化和实物化过程。

Humans have formulated and created different units and tools to measure spaces and objects. These include inches and meters; ruler and tape measurement …etc. Since that, designers count on these units and tools to measure space and imagine how our design can fit into reality. Therefore, I believe that units become a universal acknowledgement of how we define three dimensional spaces and objects. The metal structure quantify the space, which represents the concept of units and measurement. The plywood is bend and assembled with metal structure. This represents the visualization and materialization of the process of how we imagine an object to be created in reality.
