大星吉子设计工作室的装置作品“前哨站”亮相于2025年深圳光影艺术季南山主展场。作为同年在京展出的“露珠塔”的衍生作品，“前哨站”延续了前者对光、空间与感知的探讨，并将讨论聚焦于一个更具体的命题：当建筑物获得“注视”的能力，空间体验会发生怎样的偏移？

Daxing Jizi Design’s public art installation Outpost was presented at the Nanshan Main Venue of the 2025 Shenzhen Light Art Festival. Developed as a companion piece to Dewdrop Tower, shown in Beijing earlier the same year, Outpost continues the studio’s exploration of light, space, and perception. This time, however, the work focuses on a more specific question: what happens to spatial experience when an architectural object appears to have the ability to look back?

被观察的观察者
The Observer Observed

“露珠塔”以二十颗透亮的“露珠”凝结为一座塔形结构，邀请人们靠近、徜徉、触发互动。而“前哨站”则将这一逻辑向内收束——它不再是一个可供进入的空间，而是一个凝视的装置。直径逾两米的模块化发光球体，立在城市步行街的中央，半透光外壳在日间呈现出某种功能性的沉默，夜间点亮后则以漫射的光波成为街道地标。

Dewdrop Tower was composed of twenty transparent luminous “dewdrops”, gathered into a tower-like structure that invited visitors to approach, wander, and activate the work through their presence. Outpost, by contrast, turns this logic inward. It is no longer a space to enter, but a device that gazes. The main body of the installation is a modular illuminated sphere measuring over two metres in diameter, positioned at the centre of an urban pedestrian street. During the day, its translucent shell appears quiet and almost functional. At night, the sphere lights up and becomes a softly glowing landmark, sending diffused waves of light into the street.

前哨站”的名称暗示了它的角色定位：作为“总部”露珠塔的前哨，它像一个“哨兵”观察着途经或寻找露珠塔的路人。这种观察同时是装置的核心机制——对视线的模拟。球体光膜背面为整面LED矩阵，当观众进入装置周围六米的范围内，光点会跟随人的移动而转动，模拟眼球的追视动作，并伴有间歇性闪烁。装置由此获得了一种类生命的动态，它并非被动等待被观看，而是主动“看向”观看它的人。观看者与被观看者的关系由此发生反转，两者进入一种相互打量的状态。

The title Outpost suggests the role of the installation. As a forward station of Dewdrop Tower, it behaves like a sentinel, observing passersby and those searching for the larger work. Behind the translucent membrane is a full programmable LED matrix. When visitors enter the six-metre sensing range, the luminous centre follows their movement across the sphere, blinking intermittently like a tracking eye. The simple response reverses the usual relationship between viewer and object: to look at Outpost is also to be looked at.

感知结构设计
The Design of Movable Sensing Structure

装置的支撑结构采用脚手架标准件，搭建为三角形柱状体，以保证在有限的占地面积内获得足够的结构稳定性。顶部通过钢丝绳拉索悬挂直径逾两米的球体。为保护场地地面，未设置任何预埋件或地脚螺栓；三块25mm厚的椭圆形钢板作为配重基座，均匀分布荷载，使装置在完整保留地面条件的前提下完成固定。 球体外壳采用半透光材料，光膜背面为整面可编程LED矩阵。传感器驱动发光中心点的运动轨迹，追踪进入设定范围内的行人移动轨迹。整个装置采用模块化设计，脚手架、拉索、球体、钢基座均可拆卸分类运输，适应临时展览的周期要求。

Built from standard scaffolding components, the installation uses a triangular frame to suspend the two-metre-diameter sphere by steel cables. Three 25 mm thick elliptical steel plates serve as counterweights, allowing the structure to remain stable without foundations or ground anchors. Behind the translucent shell, a programmable LED matrix responds to sensor data from nearby visitors, translating their movement into a shifting luminous centre. The entire system is modular and can be dismantled, transported, and reassembled for temporary public exhibitions.

光的回应
A Response in Light

作为“露珠塔”系列的延续，“前哨站”把空间互动转化为一次安静的对视。它用光回应人的靠近，让街道短暂地拥有了“回望”的能力。

As an extension of the Dewdrop Tower , Outpost turns spatial interaction into a quiet exchange of gaze. Its minimal response to human presence makes the street momentarily reciprocal.
