Reiulf Ramstad Architects (RRA) is an independent Oslo-based architectural firm with a high level of expert knowledge and a distinct ideology. The firm has a strong conceptual approach combined with experience from past accomplished projects. RRA has a permanent staff consisting of 14 graduate architects, one managing director, 2 administrative staff , and 2-4 permanent openings for architectural students.

Over the years RRA has produced a wide range of innovative and ground breaking projects with an exceptional variation of scale and program. We have earned a reputation for creating bold, simple architecture with a strong connection to the Scandinavian context and the impressive Scandinavian landscape in particular. Common for all our projects are that they are driven by a genuine dedication to humanist values. We build in both urban and rural areas, all over Norway and recently our projects are increasingly gaining attention also outside of Norway.

As architects and designers we are fortunate to experience the overall process, from the first conceptual phase to the completion of high quality projects. The firm has shown a multitude of approaches in solving assignments, both nationally and internationally and has received numerous awards and recognitions for its projects. RRA’s unconventional approach to problem solving always results in unexpected yet inspirational architecture with high artistic quality.

RRA works with the environment in mind in all our projects, both in terms of planning and administration. RRA is very concerned that projects are planned with solutions that are environmentally progressive in relation to the operation, maintenance, energy use, functionality, flexibility and the context. We focus on efficient use of energy and follow up with the latest technology in the field. Our special competence is in balancing practical aspects of architecture such as technical and economic demands while maintaining the underlying concept throughout. We are eager to find pragmatic solutions with users as well as technical consultants, at the same time we are passionate to maintain and make sure that the original concept is carried through in the end result.

RRA is one of the few studios in Norway today with such a degree of diverse assignments. The projects are geographically spread and take place in a manifold of contexts, from compact urban locations to dramatic and uncultivated landscapes. The portfolio of the office contains commissions with huge contrasts in relation to scale, context, budget and demands of function. RRA has experience of producing complex buildings for intricate city center from our Tønsberg Town Hall project where the building is placed in the center of historical town of Tønsberg, Norway, University College Østfold project which is located in old cultural landscape, and Cultural Center Stjørdal, a cultural center with new approach both in terms of complex functionality and overall concept.

设计与施工 | Execution of the design and construction process

RRA has developed a dialog-based process for project development where the clients and users are very important resources and act as key contributors. We place great importance on maintaining a close dialogue with different user groups as well as other consultants to ensure good and functional solutions with a high degree of usability. It has been a successful working process that results in good working relationship in project groups. We have experience in working with bigger project where we are able to maintain budget and time frame through efficient and close-up project management. We have received high scores in clients’ satisfaction in our projects, some with the project period nearly 10 years. RRA also has routine of producing a status report for each project phase, a very useful tool to communicate internally in the project group and has dedicated staff members with high graphic skills to produce communication materials to the media such as presentation materials of high quality that we use for various international lectures and publications.

the new RRA Studio is located in a renovated 19th century villa in Josefines gate 7, near Bislett in Oslo. the house was designed by the prominent Norwegian architect Georg A. Bull and has previously housed an embassy and a children’s theatre. The office has been renovated to modern standards while retaining and displaying the character of building. A glass floor between the entry level and the workspaces provides a spatial connection between each floor and exposes the beautiful timber construction.

The new Community Church in Knarvik, located on the scenic west-coast of Norway north of Bergen, is built on a privileged site overlooking the cultural landscape and local town centre. The building is carefully adaptedto an existing hillside between built and natural environment, providing the church with an inspiring context of the surrounding heath landscape.Its distinctive and innovativecharacter and central location makes it a landmark in the community, to be inviting and inclusive for all people to cultivate their faith throughout the week.

位于挪威Åndalsnes的挪威登山中心以独特的建筑形态呼应着背后延绵起伏的威武雪山。这里成为小城中最具吸引力的场所，迎接着当地居民与外来的游客。因内部攀岩功能需要而形成的高耸建筑体量直指云霄，极富张力。斑斓的外立面仿如身后雪山上星星点点的积雪，让建筑从Åndalsnes市中心整齐而略显单调的建筑群中脱颖而出，成为小城的标志性建筑。

The Norwegian Mountaineering Center is anchored in an innovative interpretation of nature’s fantastic  dimensions and the dramatic experience of mountaineering. The design of the building is based on its function  as a mountaineering center and gathering place for both locals and visitors. This provides the structure with a characteristic volume communicating its contents with exciting and unique geometrical expression. Its outer skin is clad in a uniform surface, highlighting its originality and situation next to the train tracks of Raumabanen and the station area in the Åndalsnes town center.

The Romsdal Folk Museum is an architectonic attraction and a treasured landmark that embodies the history and identity of the entire region. Our intention in this project was to let the structure signal its meaning and function through an architectural expression and the use of local materials. The scale of the building refers to the urbanity and morphology of the town. The overall layout of the museum grounds the connections to the town by linking different surrounding areas in an overall plan where all circulation is linked in a unified structure. The project conveys an open and progressive attitude that makes diverse utilization possible.

Chemin des Carrières矿场游览道如同开阔景观中一道飘扬的丝带，顺着法国东部城市阿尔萨斯原野中的Rosheim-St Nabor铁路廊道延伸，以柔和而明确的方式，表达了景观设计师将空间交还与民的尝试。

Chemin des Carrières, the Quarries’ Track, is a lace undulating in the landscape, an invitation to travel as our ambition behind the reconquest of the Rosheim-St Nabor railway in Alsace, France.

丹麦毛皮岛Limfjorden峡湾具有独特的丘陵地貌与海湾景色。Reiulf Ramstad Arkitekter设计的观景点引导并加强了人们对美景的体验，同时并未破坏岛上的氛围。耐候钢制，配备两个附属的观景点。

In the middle of the Danish fjord Limfjorden, there is a small island entitled Fur. The architectural instalation at Fur will allow tourists and visitors to come even closer to the spectacular nature. The island is characterized by untouched nature; cli s, hilly landscape and a beautiful view over the fjord. The project will strengthen people’s experience in this beautiful landscape, and create the condition to enjoy the great panoramic view. The corten steel installation is also complemented with two more installations.

Stjørdal文化中心位于挪威中部的同名小镇Stjørdal内，是本地乃至区域性的标志物建筑。做为一个综合性文化建筑，建筑功能包罗万象，囊括了音乐厅、图书馆、电影院、酒店以及本地的文化音乐学校，欢迎着所有对文化感兴趣的客人的到来，帮助他们各施所长。另外，建筑内的教堂还可为当地居民承办各种的典礼和仪式。酒店的住客络绎不绝，为文化中心和其前方的公园注入了生机和活力。

The Cultural Center of Stjørdal will be an important node, both locally and in the region. The center will become an inviting place for all people interested in culture in one way or another—a building where people of all kinds can explore and develop their abilities and talents. With its church, the cultural center will function as a worthy venue for all kinds of ceremonies for the inhabitants. What is more, the visitors at the hotel will contribute to vitalizing  the building and the park.

位于挪威Havøysund地区一个新休憩停靠站。这个建筑靠着公路，向小湾蜿蜒前去，给人们提供一个看海的特别体验，创造出富有分寸和趣味的缓慢路径移动行为。构筑漫长的几何形体上分布着停车场。自行车棚，公厕，长椅，开放式厨房和壁炉。路径分为楼梯和坡道，其中像小河一样的蜿蜒坡道非常长，人们在里面走会觉得很有趣。

The initial approach was to single out and magnify the experience of walking from the roadside down to the seaside at this very special place. Therefore a main concern was to slow down this movement and make the path itself a means of refocusing the experiential mode: a measured, restrained approach that creates awareness.The monolithic structure in concrete is developed with a clear geometric strategy based on a study of organic circular organisms. The project contains a series of various functions such as parking, bike shed, public toilets, benches, open kitchen and fireplace.

挪威滑雪胜地度假小屋，布斯克吕，挪威

一座位于挪威布斯克吕Havsdalen滑雪度假胜地某山坡上的度假小屋。面积130平米的度假屋轮廓鲜明，坡屋顶适应着当地的天气。采用温暖的木材整体统一建造，以卧室为主，主要分区为公共区和睡眠区。

This holiday home has a clear and clean-cut expression. The volume has a main wing, housing mainly bedrooms,which naturally adapts to the terrain and divides into two branches of living zones. The shift in program and use of different levels allow this part of the building to adapt to the slope of the site. With the same timber cladding on all of the outer walls and on the roof, the holiday home is unified in one structure.
