Individual style has been the driving force of any avant-garde segment of architecture during the last 10 years. Architecture is available to anyone, It is open enough that we can experience & experiment architecture in our own way and logics.

Parametric design becoming mainstream since the middle of twenty first century. Is it too mainstream to be avant-garde? I don’t know….but I know I do not like it.

近10多年来，个人风格已经成为先锋建筑的动力来源之一。建筑可以与任何人对话，建筑足够开放，我们可以用自己的方式和逻辑来体验和认知建筑。

Inspiration 灵感

Chinese Calligraphy and Modern Chinese Ink Painting was my childhood’s hobbies. I think I was the last generation that still pick up a Chinese brush and do writings in school in the 80s. Ever since, this traditional techniques has been slowly diminished to most of the generation.

中国书法以及中国现代水墨画是我从儿时起的爱好。80年代，在学校里我用毛笔写字，我想我是最后一代使用并依然使用毛笔的中国人。从那个时代起，毛笔的使用范围已经慢慢缩小到很微小了。

I did Modern Chinese Ink paintings for several years before the focus of architecture.

Subconsciously, the works that I produced always reflects the qualities of a painterly effects and also the image production of a very contrasted and highly detailed aesthetics. This could be very provocative for Chinese architect to do architecture with this concept to create a style of “Chinese Architecture”. In the coming years, I would like to experiment this more seriously and incorporate into the design process.

在我重心转移到建筑之前，我画了好些年的现代中国水墨画。潜意识里，我的作品总是反映出绘画的影响—产生的形象具有强烈的对比性和高精度细节的特征。当一个中国建筑师用这样的理念来做“中国建筑”，也许非常具有挑衅性。在未来，我想进行更多的尝试，并将其纳入设计过程中。

I think Chinese architects and architecture need to be recognize internationally. Why are we building architecture in our own country by foreign architects, we need to do it ourselves. We have our own voices, its about time for us to arise and we need to react.

我认为中国的建筑师还有建筑需要得到国际上的承认。为什么在我们国家修建筑要用外国建筑师。我们需要自己的事情自己做。我们要有自己的声音，现在是时候去奋斗，去产生影响力。

SY(E)NERGY SWIRLS

SY(E)NERGY SWIRLS 协同漩涡

LIANTANG/ HEUNG YUEN WAI BOUNDARY CONTROL POINT PASSENGER TERMINAL BUILDING
LIANTANG/ HEUNG YUEN WAI口岸客运大楼

The polar relationship of the boundary features in two swirl ribbons for separated circulations for customs of HK and SZ. The swirls facilitate flow in different scales. Air flow in nature formulates the building form while swirl in human scale leads to ramps and more hubs in space along the circulation. The inherit length from the site for the travelling time is elongated by swirls. The easing of congestion mimics a polar tension softened transforming into synergy of the circulation.

The energy skin creates a dynamic infrastructure space. Plantation weaves along the skin becoming a green belt along the ribbons/tunnels. The breathing skin leads to an ascending lawn and sitting out area on turf roof.

The inside-out space creates an infinite animation for the circulation. The intersecting swirls resulting in a three-dimensional assemblage provide shading for the botanical garden and water plaza underneath as well as internal connections within the building. The grand stages oriented to the two cities celebrate the arrival. The unique experience of cross boundary stands out among the others.

这两个交错的漩涡带为香港——深圳海关提供交通分流。漩涡流体具有不同的尺度部分。自然飞舞的建筑形体形成人性化的坡道和沿空间的节点中枢。漩涡具有的长度延长了人们在场地上的通行时间，通过这样的流通形式缓和了极紧张的拥塞。能效外表皮创建了一个有活力，变化的基础设施空间。表皮上交织着种植物，沿形成了交通带形成绿色的条带。具有生命力的表皮形成向上草坡和可休憩的绿色屋顶。

创造出由内至外无限活力的循环空间。漩涡的交叉立体组合还为与建筑紧密联系的植物园和水广场带来荫凉。

宏伟的进程庆祝着两城市间的相互到访。独特的过境体验与众不同。

East_West
Eastern and western skins receive consistent solar energy throughout the year, facilitating growth of the green belt along. To reconcile with heat gain, the facade blends with this belt of vertical greens, turf roof and water screen. Elevated mass and louvers along green belt of the eastern facade acting as a windcatcher facilitate cooling of the building and cross ventilation of the main hall respectively by the easterly wind.

North_South
Southern facade where most of the solar panels located, receives the most solar energy, more than others at any time during winter. Northern receives some (relatively little) solar energy during summer.

Direction
Through northern and southern facades where ones gaze out to the oriented views of HK and SZ accordingly, they define grand stages for celebration of arrivals and exciting happenings, such as exhibitions and ceremonies.

Vista
While embracing the intimate elevated open spaces on the east, the western facades of different levels are stretched to extend the precious views to the boundary cities. Along the green path, benches along the elevated spirals provide a refreshing and animated space for transit people to relax and admire view over the boundary.

东，西
东部，西部的外表皮全年接受太阳能，以促进绿化种植物的生长。为了协调热量的吸收，垂直绿化，屋顶绿化，水幕带融为一体，共同组成外皮。东侧外皮遍布众多百叶，充分利用东风，以形成交叉通风和有利于建筑散热。

南，北
南立面安装了大部分太阳能电池板，在任何时间，包括冬季都接受最多的太阳能。在北面，接受相对少量的太阳能。

方向
南北方向上导向链接香港和深圳，并正面迎对城市，迎接令人兴奋的到达或者离别，庆祝展览和庆典。

展望
架空交织的形体，在东部形成开放空间，在西部拥有不同层次的视野，人们沿着螺旋通道行进，可以有一个连贯的，清新的空间体验，并能轻松和愉快的欣赏边境风光。

HK//SZ
The cross boundary experience from HK to SZ is enhanced with well-populated activities from the spiral. The flow becomes smoothen by facilitating the travelling time for people who could spend more time at the border while diluting congestions seen in times.

SZ//HK
The crossing experience is overlooked by staff area on the mezzanine, floating green pots from the ceiling and animated vertical garden over structural trellises. The flow is populated on the HK side in the arrival hall via grand escalators down to the transport hub.

香港到深圳
从香港过境，从一个非常友好的螺旋入口进入，组织了更长的过境交通时间让高峰期的交通更为顺畅。

深圳到香港
从深圳到香港，途径工作区域上方。经过绿色屋顶和垂直花园。人们在中转枢纽通过搭乘大电梯到达位于香港的大厅。

Sy(e)nergetic Ecologies

Sy(e)nergetic Ecologies is a developmental master planning proposal which traces through humanizing the accessibility of the city of Parramatta’s river foreshore through proposing new activities, open landscapes and synergetic programmes, which introduces new innovative topological energy creation that regenerates and reconnects the community.

Three main sources of energy are brought into the site to extend its energy for better use into Parramatta. (Wind, Water, Sun)

Bringing together a fusion of technological, economical and cultural entities, and combining a public free space into an open landscape, the newly developed Sy(e)nergetic Ecologies becomes an open playground of hidden gems, which offers the community countless integrated opportunities to develop, transform and harmonise the City of Parramatta’s River Foreshore….

[EV]-X

[EV]-X

[EV]-X is an on-street charging station combine with a street light infrastructure system that supplies electric energy for the recharging of electric vehicle, plug-in vehicle and electric-gasoline vehicles.

There is a growing need for widely distributed publicly accessible power points; a relatively inexpensive charging station providing 3.3 kWs of power (240 volts at 14 amperes) will take several hours to fully recharge an electric vehicle. However, most users will charge every day, so they will very rarely need to fully recharge their battery. So 3.3 kWs charging is more than enough for parking at home or work, but not for “re-fueling” in the middle of a trip.

[EV]-X is a fast charge system that can take a battery from zero charge to 50% full in about 3 minutes. It has two batteries, one that stores electrical energy from the grid and another that delivers it to the car at extremely high current (500-600 amps, 20 kWs, which allows it to use a low-voltage power supply (AC200v; while the existing rapid charging systems require a higher power supply voltage 50 kW or more, AC6.6kV). [EV]-X charging points have highly visibly indicator light to show whether it is available charging or out of service. Glow in the dark solar panel system that indicates “yellow” when charging is available and red is unavailable.

Solar Power is suitable for electric vehicles. This built-in solar energy system along with electric car charging station is equipped with hundreds of mini monocrystalline solar panels, which can supply 1.76KWp of solar power. With further refinements, it can generate about 2000KWh of electricity from the panels over the year.

This project was dealing with existing condition of a warehouse and the challenge was to implement these complex systems into the existing structure and still creating a coherence formal aesthetics and generative typologies.

这个项目是改建现有仓库，挑战是要在现有结构上覆上复杂的系统，还要创造出连贯的美学以及生成类型学。

SCI-Arc Graduate Thesis 2008… The Pursuit of Exuberance Architecture

This thesis is about constantly evolving the relationships between multiple systems to create form. It is also the intention of this thesis to evolve new speciation, new style and new aesthetics through the pro¬duction of liminality.

Liminal Form- constantly evolving the relationship between systems to create forms that are held in maximal tension in relation to one another, suspended in a permanent state of incomplete transition. This incomplete transi¬tion allows one to recognize originality. One’s sense of identity dissolves to some extent, bringing some disorientation. It is an “in- between state” of an open-ended mutating system that al¬lows for infinite growth.

Calligraphical Aesthetics is a stylistic formal language that integrated to balance the legibility in the progression of combining and mixing these complex formal systems. The formal qualities of calligraphy allow complex spatial arrangement to be handled with effortless fluidity.

SCI-Arc 2008 毕业设计追求建筑的繁荣

设计是关于创建的系统间不断变化的羁绊。力图突破界限，发展出新的形态，新的风格，新的美学。阈限的形态，在不断的变化着直到达到另外一个极限张力状态。这种转化需要创造，个体意识溶解其中，带来迷惑感。这是一个“中间状态”开放式系统，允许突变无限增长。

汉字书法美学是形体语言的基础，并使这复杂的系统保持平衡和易读性。其书法之美让复杂的空间变得轻松和具有流动性。
