2026年初夏，我们受到2026FOCUS佛山文创周主办方邀请，为本次盛会打造一组根植岭南本土风情、承载广府烟火底蕴的装置艺术。在方案构思之初，我们深度浸润到老广的日常百态中，希望寻觅到一件最具烟火气、最贴合岭南民生特质的日常物件，作为本次装置艺术的核心创作载体。最终，我们将目光锁定于“红胶凳”。作为岭南最具代表性的轻工业民生家具，红胶凳物美价廉、坚固耐造，同时兼具轻便简洁、收放自如的特性，是大排档夜宵、乡村宴席、邻里聚场等市井场景的核心符号，深度融入广府人的日常烟火，被当地人亲切称为“省凳”，承载着最地道、最纯粹的岭南生活记忆。

In the early summer of 2026, we were invited by the organizers of 2026 Foshan Internatioanl Cultural & Creative Week to create an art installation for this grand event. At the very beginning of the conceptual stage, we immersed ourselves deeply in the everyday life of local Cantonese people, hoping to find an everyday object that best captures the distinctive character of local folk life. In the end, our gaze settled on the red plastic stools. As the most iconic daily furniture in this region, red plastic stools are affordable, robust and stackable. Serving as a distinctive symbol of restaurants, village feasts and community meetups. They are also nicknamed “Stools of the Province” by Cantonese people, holding authentic memories of local ordinary life.

我们因此以一个“省凳”为装置基础模块，以层层堆叠的塔式结构重构日常物件。塔身高8.2米，形态以双色双螺旋攀升，环绕装置移步观赏，景致随视角流转变幻，整个装置宛若一巨型走马灯。为最大化保留“省凳塔”的市井人文质感，我们摒弃了工业化的预搭建方式。为期5天的装置搭建过程，本身也是一场极限的纯手工实践。装置主体采用钢结构脚手架搭建，每一张省凳均由手艺人与建筑师协同配合，通过扎带手工固定安装。从45厘米的日常红胶凳，到8.2米的巨型塔身，全程无焊接、无湿法连接，最大限度保留材料原生属性，实现90%材料可回收利用，践行低碳可持续的设计理念。

We therefore use the red plastic stool as the unit module to build a tower installation. The 8.2-meter-high tower features a spiral form with dual-color. As viewers move around it, the scene shifts and transforms with every change in perspective, resembling a giant revolving lantern. To fully preserve the grassroots cultural texture of the Stool Tower, we abandoned industrial prefabrication method. The five-day construction process itself constitutes an intensive fully handcrafted practice.The main framework of the installation is built by steel scaffolding; every stool is fastened manually with cable through close collaboration between craftsmen and architect. No welding or wet connections were applied to transform 45cm high stools into an 8.2m high tower. Up to 90% of materials are recyclable while preserving their natural texture, delivering a low-carbon sustainable design concept.

作为2026FOCUS佛山文创周的核心主题装置与氛围地标，“省凳塔”借平凡民生器物沉淀广府人文底蕴，塑造专属佛山的艺术符号。在本届文创周“共振·定义”的核心主题下，以微观生活之美，完成了市井烟火与城市艺术的双向共振。
As the core thematic installation and ephemral landmark of 2026 Foshan Cultural & Creative Week. Inspired by humble everyday objects, the Stool Tower captures the subtle beauty of ordinary life to create a mutual resonance between grassroots urban vitality and urban art.
