The European Commission, the Fundació Mies van der Rohe, and the Barcelona City Council are pleased to announce the programme of the EUmies Awards Days 2026, taking place on May 11 and 12 at the Mies van der Rohe Pavilion and the nearby Palau Victòria Eugènia. Developed within the framework of the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture / Mies van der Rohe Awards 2026 (EUmies Awards 2026), these days are organised by Creative Europe and the Fundació Mies van der Rohe, and curated by the Barcelona-based collective postlike.

The EUmies Awards Days, one of the most significant gatherings in European architecture, will bring together architects, institutions, clients, and cultural agents from across the continent to celebrate the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture / Mies van der Rohe Awards. The programme will feature the participation of the winning architects architecten jan de vylder inge vinck, AgwA, and Vidic Grohar Arhitekti, together with their teams, as well as the finalists. Under the theme “On Reuse,” proposed by postlike collective, the event focuses on strategies of transformation and reuse present in the selected works, in alignment with the values highlighted by the jury. The programme unfolds over two main days of activities, May 11 and 12, as part of Barcelona 2026 UNESCO-UIA World Capital of Architecture, and includes the awards ceremony, three exhibitions, seven lectures, and two performative actions, as well as parallel events and guided tours that expand the programme.

Performative actions by Ver Aguas, Meritxell de Soto, and Golpe deAmistad, together with a light installation by Xevi Bayona Studio, will further expand the discussion into artistic and experiential formats.

Exhibitions

The exhibition “EUmies Awards 2026” is presented at the Palau Victòria Eugènia and showcases the 410 nominated works from 40 countries and 143 regions, offering a comprehensive snapshot of contemporary European architecture. Through models, drawings, videos, and texts, the exhibition highlights transformation, reuse, and adaptation. The programme also includes the exhibitions “What is this? Exhibiting the Mies van der Rohe Foundation Collection” at Palau Victòria Eugènia, and “Polska. Chronicle from Europe,” organised jointly with the Polish Cultural Institute at La Casa de la Arquitectura in Barcelona. In addition, a showcase dedicated to Ukrainian architecture will include the installation “Waiting” by CAMARAC, presenting voices and experiences directly from Ukraine. The exhibitions at Palau Victòria Eugènia will remain open until July 5, 2026, and will be visitable during the UIA World Congress of Architects, held in Barcelona from June 28 to July 2, before beginning their international touring programme across Europe and beyond.

Following the announcement of the winners on April 16, 2026, in Oulu (European Capital of Culture 2026), the EUmies Awards Days in Barcelona will mark the official celebration and recognition of the awarded works.

Designed both as a game and a communication tool, the set invites users to explore contemporary European architecture through play, learning and interaction, with each card linking to extended project information via QR codes.
