Appreciation towards  Rehwaldt Landscape Architects for providing the following description:

德累斯顿新市广场位于著名的圣母大教堂前。布商大厦则曾是16世纪新市广场上的代表性建筑。建筑被战争摧毁后，原址成了供游客及市民休憩的开放空间。2017年，德累斯顿市政府有意在布商大厦原址上重建一座建筑物作为纪念。不料该方案遭到了市民的强烈反对。

The Dresden Neumarkt is located in front of the famous Dresdner Frauenkirche. The Gewandhausareal was once a representative building on the 16th century Dresden Neumarkt. After the building was destroyed by the war, the original site became an open space for tourists and citizens to rest. In 2017, the Dresden City Government intends to rebuild a building on the original Gewandhausareal as a memorial. Unexpectedly, the plan met with strong opposition from citizens.

布商大厦的重现

市政府经过广泛讨论后，确定保持场地绿色开放空间的属性，并委任我事务所进行设计。我所决定通过景观手段，纪念这座留存于城市记忆中的大厦。

After extensive discussions, the city government decided to maintain the green open space and appointed us to design it. Our decision is to commemorate this Site through landscape method and remain the memory of the city.

例如以修剪整齐的树冠标注原布商大厦的地基及体量。方盒般的悬铃木造型树冠，宛如一座“绿色大厦”。高耸的树干留出的通透空间，满足人群休憩活动的需求。

We used a trimmed canopy to arrange the location of the original building, and the boundary of the canopy roof expressed the position and size of the building. The cube canopy looks like a “green building “, while the trunk leaves open space, and meets the needs of the crowd for leisure activities.

承载记忆的石材“地毯”
Stone “carpet” carrying memory

当年大厦内销售的布料，主要来自土耳其，意大利，英国及德国捷克边境劳希茨地区。所以场地的铺装也特意选用世界各地区的石材，并且按布匹的纹路进行排布。

The fabrics sold in the building were mainly from Turkey, Italy, the United Kingdom and the Lausitz, Germany. Therefore, the paving also uses stones from these places, and arranges according to the texture of the cloth.

圣母大教堂的最佳观赏点
The best view of Frauenkirche

场地上纵向排列着供游人休憩的座椅，正好面向著名的圣母大教堂。

著名的圣母大教堂前从此有了一片高质量的城市开放空间。这座“绿色大厦”保留了昔日布商大厦的场地记忆。如今，通透的“绿色大厦”再一次成为人们的聚集点，同时也为观赏雄伟的圣母教堂提供了绝佳的视角。

There is a high-quality urban open space in front of the famous Dresdner Frauenkirche. This “green building” retains the site memory of the Gewandhausareal. Today, the “green building” once again becomes a gathering point for people, and also provides an excellent perspective for viewing the Frauenkirche.

在布商大厦建起之前，这里曾是德累斯顿的城墙。新市广场上的饮水设施标注了原城墙的位置。水池采用纵向纹理，配合整体设计语言。水流落下的地方特意加上纹路，防止水花四溅。此处不仅能给游客提供更全面的服务，还可作为水景供孩童游戏。

Before the Gewandhausareal was built, it was the city wall of Dresden. The drinking water facilities on the Dresden Neumarkt marked the location of the original city walls. The facility uses a vertical texture to prevent splashes. It not only provides tourists with more comprehensive services, but also serves as place for children to play.
