Paradise Lost in Time by Interbreeding Field

Appreciation towards Interbreeding Field for providing the following description:

“Paradise Lost in Time”
Taipei City, Shihlin paper ruined factory

Shihlin paper factory is located in the downtown of Taipei City, that is a big area ruined for a long time. Entering the factory, it divided into two parts of area, on the left side is a concrete factory building adjoining a smaller brick building with destroyed roof；On the right side is a quite long factory building, constructed of beautiful bricks. Because of long time disuse and temporal ruin of the structure, the internal space of factory became the best growing place for plant, the sunshine and rainwater spilled through the interstice due to the ruin of the building, making the ruined space filled with poetic atmosphere.

About the new use of the whole area, the building left side is set the usage of exhibiting, and it will have different exhibition in the future. One of the works making by Interbreeding Field is the atmosphere & field compounding for the outside public space in the surrounding of this exhibition space. We tried to create outside rest field, outdoor coffee district, and we also set coffee shop and lavatory area constructing by the light of the plastic container within the smaller brick building with destroyed roof, thinking how to combine the trace of old material, the scale of old place, the new life in the old space…then constructing the atmosphere field where the activities takes place in different way.

In the right side, the long, brick, poetic factory is the location of the Paradise Lost in Time. We set an enveloping space due to the destroyed roof constructing the new orientation of the factory. It became a new sensible entrance of the factory, the interchange of the body position and sensation through the enveloping space catching the natural elements such as light, water, wind…etc, and giving the sense of surprise to enter the ruined factory in the same time. Passing the enveloping space, we meet another atmosphere field we created by combining the nature plant, destroyed construction, light, old smell, rainwater with the moving, gathering of the body. By moving your body through our work, you will have different way to meet the old space, new life, different level of history, then having new atmosphere through different activities took place in the old space.

台北士林纸厂是位于台北市中心废弃很久的一个工厂。工厂分布在街道两侧。右侧是一个美丽的砖构长厂房，由于长期荒废，这里成为植物生长最好的地方。在这片废墟上，阳光和雨水从间隙侵入，让这个空间具有诗意的氛围。

新的改建，让建筑左侧成为展览场地，并配置室内外咖啡吧，还在街道上做了室外休息区。咖啡吧和卫生间的部分是由塑料容器做成分割和墙壁。晚上还能发光。为这里带来了新的生机。右侧则成为一个恍如隔世的失乐园。建筑师让其具有新的生命，保留了原有的光，水，风等要素。将植物，老建筑，废墟，斑驳，雨水还有体验汇聚在一起。在这里游走，可以有不同的感触。
