董功当选法国建筑科学学院院士

直向建筑创始人、主持建筑师董功于11月26日在巴黎出席法国建筑科学院典礼，接受法国建筑科学院授予的院士证书和证章，并发表题为《回到建筑》的演讲。

法国建筑科学院院长马丁·罗班向在场院士及来宾介绍道：“董功是新一代建筑师的杰出代表。2010年，在威尼斯举办的中国新锐建筑创作竞赛中，他获得了一等奖，从那时起，我们就开始关注他。近年来，他设计建造了很多出色的建筑，得到我们科学院的充分认可。”

DONG Gong, the founder & design principal of Vector Architects attended the installation ceremony at French Academy of Architecture in Paris on November 26th, receiving the medal and diploma endowed by French Academy of Architecture for the new foreign membership. He made a speech titled “Back to Architecture” at the installation ceremony.

Mr. President Martin ROBAIN made introduction to the members and guests, “DONG Gong is a prominent architect of the young generation. We have been closely following his work and practice, since the year of 2010 when he won the first prize of CA’ASI New Chinese Architecture competition in Venice. In recent years, he designed and completed a series of outstanding architecture, which well gains the recognition of the academy.”

董功在演讲中说道，近年来中国迅猛的城市化进程，无疑为中国建筑师提供了相比其它任何一个国家更多的建筑实践机会，超大规模的建设数量和速度又给了建筑师们很大压力。“我坚信建筑中原始、安静而永恒的力量可以穿越时间，抵抗喧嚣和变迁。建筑当然要从当下出发，去回应政治，社会，环境等现实问题。但是，在解决了这一切问题之后，建筑最终还要能够保留住那一部分超越现实约束的精神，回到最本真的状态，安抚我们的身心与情感。建筑的本真往往存在于一系列有着魔术般张力的二元概念中：明与暗，漂浮与锚固，边界与无边界，瞬间与永恒，有形与无形等等。在我看来，坚持这种价值判断是建筑师应该具备的勇气和终极责任，也是建筑师区别于诸如请愿者、政治家、管理者等其他职业的地方。”

DONG Gong mentioned in his speech, that the rapid urbanization in recent decades have undoubtedly offered Chinese architects way more practice opportunities than anywhere else in the world. Within such circumstance, architects have been under too much pressure of the tremendous demand of quantity and speed. “I have faith in the primitive, tranquil, and eternal power embodied within architecture itself. It can travel through time and resist unrest and uncertainty. Architecture has to be responsive to the social and political perimeters of our time, but after all these, good architecture is always able to go beyond the constraint of reality, to reclaim its authenticity, soothing our body and soul. Such authenticity of architecture always lies in the magical tension of a series of dualities, such as light and darkness, floating and anchoring, boundary and boundaryless, time and timeless, tangible and intangible and etc. This is the courage as well as the ultimate responsibility that architecture should have. And this will distinguish architects from merely petitioners, politicians, administrators, and so on.”

董功于2008年创立直向建筑事务所，先后被聘为美国伊利诺大学杰出教授、清华大学建筑学院、中央美术学院建筑学院设计导师。董功及事务所多次受邀参与国内外重要展览，于2018年参加第16届威尼斯建筑双年展FREESPACE主题展及中国馆展览。事务所曾获得意大利Domus“100+最佳建筑事务所”（2019），瑞士建筑奖入围奖（2018），意大利“Archmarathon”建筑奖最高奖（2016），美国建筑实录国际十大设计先锋（2014）等重要奖项。其代表作品包括：海边图书馆，海边教堂，阿丽拉阳朔糖舍酒店，船长之家改造，长江美术馆，苏州非物质文化遗产博物馆等。

法国建筑科学院成立于1840年，是世界建筑界顶级学术机构，也是全世界最早成立的建筑科学院。目前拥有院士三百余位，其中外籍院士五十余位，包括安腾忠雄、楨文彦、诺曼•福斯特、理查德•迈耶、理查德•罗杰斯、阿瓦罗•西扎、伦佐•皮亚诺、拉斐尔•莫尼欧、雅克•赫尔佐格、皮埃尔•德•梅隆、马里奥•博塔等，中国籍院士有吴良镛、齐康、郑时龄、伍江。

DONG Gong founded Vector Architects in 2008. He was appointed as the Plym Distinguished Visiting Professor at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2019， and he has been teaching Design Studios at Tsinghua University and Central Academy of Fine Arts. He and Vector Architects have been invited to various major exhibitions, including the 2018 Free Space Venice Biennale, and have won international awards such as “100+ Best Architecture Firms” selected by Domus (2019); nominated for the Swiss Architectural Award (2018); the overall winner of the Italian “Archmarathon Awards” (2016); and the “Design Vanguard” selected by Architectural Record (2014). His representative works include Seashore Library, Seashore Chapel, Alila Hotel in Yangshuo, the Renovation of the Captain’s House, Changjiang Art Museum, and Suzhou Intangible Cultural Heritage Museum.

The French Academy of Architecture was founded in 1840. It is the top academic institution in the world of architecture and the earliest established academy of architecture in the world. At present, there are more than three hundred members in the Academy, including 59 foreign members. They are Tadao ANDO, Norman FOSTER, Richard MEIER, Richard ROGERS, Alvaro SIZA, Renzo PIANO, Rafael MONEO, Jacques HERZOG, PierreDEMEURON, Mario BOTTA and so on. Chinese members include WU Liangyong, QI Kang, ZHENG Shiling and WU Jiang.
