Closer it´s a plate designed for left and right handed to enjoy eating, but thought for them to start conversations in order to get them closer both physically and mentally.
When we are free to eat and move around a space we experience new situations that aloud us to interact with more people than just the ones sitting around us in a regular table. To encourage this situation “Closer” redefine the eating space we use and literally put the table into your hands in order to set you free for limits without taking out your personal space.
The design captures the essence of traditional Japanese plates, it´s inspired by their honest shapes and the beauty of textures and colors made by ¨Urushi¨ (Traditional Japanese Laca). Combining these esthetical elements with a new approach of functionality has made this project a unique reinterpretation of Japanese traditional crafts.
