今年的设计周启用了全新的空间格局划分模式，而为了保证数千位到访者的参观体验，同时让设计周的魅力得以全面的展现，道路引导系统的设计成为了重中之重。Giles Miller Studio与British Ceramic Tile合作，为2016伦敦Clerkenwell设计周制造了一组以玻璃瓦片为原材料的指示性雕塑，并以互动的设计为这看似呆板的功能添加了不少趣味。在Billboards的明确引导下，参观者得以轻松地享受这个聚集了众多的活动、展览和装置艺术的国际知名设计盛宴。

Giles Miller Studio, in partnership with British Ceramic Tile, has created a series of four functional sculptures for London’s Clerkenwell Design Week 2016, to help visitors navigate the extensive program of events, exhibitions and installations that shape the internationally renowned design fair.

With the new masterplan of Clerkenwell Design Week this year, way finding is of paramount importance to help guide the thousands of visitors, and allow for each aspect of the fair to be explored. Billboards offers a unique solution to this in a fun and engaging fashion.

8000余块手工玻璃瓦片如同鳞片般重重叠叠，整齐地排列在一起。微微旋转的瓦片极富动感和纵深感，中部弯折的空隙则指示着展区的路径。金属磨砂质感让亮丽的红、蓝、金、银色不失优雅。框架结构上内嵌着照明系统，无论早晚这雕塑般指示装置都将静立一旁，默默履行着自己的职责。

这四个宽3.3米，高2.4米的巨型雕塑被安放在了展区内数个主展场的附近，包括Kingsway Place，Clerkenwell Close及 Clerkenwell Road。

这是Giles Miller Studio第三次参加Clerkenwell设计周，而Billboards在继承事务所实用性雕塑艺术作品的传统的同时，也展示着他们正在探索的全新领域。

Composed of over 8,000 hand-crafted glass tiles, in an array of vibrant matte and metallic colours, each of the four structures adopts a scale-like composition with overlapping tiles that create a sense of depth and movement. The sculptures are also lit up from within, and rendering them functional at all hours of the day.

The generously-sized sculptures, which are approximately 3.3m wide x 2.4m high, are located at key CDW destinations including Kingsway Place (outside the House of Detention), Clerkenwell Close and Clerkenwell Road (opposite Vitra).

This is the third time the Giles Miller Studio has designed and crafted an installation for Clerkenwell Design Week and Billboards both represents the functional sculptural artworks the studio is known for, as well as the studio’s ongoing creative development.

Giles Miller explains: “Billboards is the latest manifestation of our highly conceptual project work, realised with the help of an open-minded partner in British Ceramic Tile. These huge glass sculptures will be an intriguing showcase for British Ceramic Tile’s products as well as a wonderful expression of our studio’s creative freedom.”

David Richards, Marketing Manager at British Ceramic Tile, acknowledges: “It’s great to be working with Giles Miller given his excellent track record of turning 2D materials into amazing 3D installations. These installations will really help to navigate people around the new CDW layout and point them in the direction of our new London Hub which is opening during the fair.”
