01「序」
Preface

湖山相依的城市是幸运的，自然的馈赠与人工的智慧在这里完美契合，呈现出多样而妩媚的江南水岸。

A city blessed by the embrace of mountains and lakes is fortunate, where the gifts of nature and the wisdom of human ingenuity perfectly align, presenting a diverse and enchanting Jiangnan waterfront.

02「背景」
Background

本案是位于无锡马山的十里明珠堤景观改造项目。于半个世纪之前，因围湖造田而筑的太湖大堤， 总长约6.25公里。晴时碧波千里，阴时水墨黛青。拥有无锡景观视觉最丰富太湖岸线，山，水，城在这里融合，是无锡的最美峡湾，马山的最美门户，无锡人的最美后花园。在这些年经济高速发展之后，马山已有了自己的高速公路，快速通道……十里明珠堤不再需要承担主要干道的重任，转而可以做回她本来的自己……

This project is the landscape renovation of the Shi Li Mingzhu Levee located in Wuxi Mashan. Half a century ago, the Taihu Lake levee was constructed for land reclamation, stretching approximately 6.25 kilometers in length. On clear days, it offers a view of a thousand miles of azure waves; on cloudy days, it resembles an ink painting in shades of blue and green. Possessing the richest visual Taihu shoreline in Wuxi, mountains, water, and city merge here, making it the most beautiful fjord of Wuxi, the most beautiful gateway of Mashan, and the most beautiful backyard for the people of Wuxi. After years of rapid economic development, Mashan has its own highways and expressways… Shi Li Mingzhu Causeway no longer needs to bear the burden of a main artery, instead, it can return to its original self…

03「理念」
Concept

这次既有空间改造设计中，我们以“擦亮一颗明珠”为原则，去化解空间矛盾，去链接城市绿道体系。以“配角”为定位，融入在地文化特征，增设慢行友好设施，增加情绪消费空间，在较低的预算条件下，让人们同样能够，更安全更舒适地享受这部山水长卷。

In this renovation of existing spaces, we adhere to the principle of “polishing a pearl” to resolve spatial contradictions and connect with the city’s greenway system.  Positioned as a “supporting actor,” we integrate local cultural characteristics, add pedestrian-friendly facilities, and increase emotional consumption spaces.  Under a low-budget condition, we aim to allow people to enjoy this landscape scroll more safely and comfortably.

04「设计思路」
Design Approach

根据湖面由窄到宽的景观特征，由北到南划分为四大特色景观岸线：连山喷雪，碧波烟云，碧玉螺岸，千波观海。

Based on the landscape features of the lake narrowing to widening, the causeway is divided into four distinctive landscape shorelines from north to south: Lian Shan Pen Xue, Bi Bo Yan Yun, Bi Yu Luo An, and Qian Bo Guan Hai.

北端湖面收窄，风浪在这里聚集堆叠，拍岸飞溅，在调研中很多人提到这一难忘景观，正如李白在《横江词六首》中所述的“涛似连山喷雪来“，故命名为“连山喷雪”。

At the northern end, the lake narrows, and waves gather and stack here, splashing against the shore.  Many people mentioned this unforgettable landscape during research, as described by Li Bai in “Six Poems of Hengjiang” – “Waves like snow from the continuous mountains,” hence the name “Lian Shan Pen Xue.”

沿岸前行。峡湾之中，城市的轮廓，掩映在江南那黛青色的烟雨山水之间，温柔而妩媚，如“飞尘难到碧波中，波上烟云尽不同”的意境，故命名“碧波烟云”。

Moving along the coast.  In the fjord, the city’s silhouette is hidden among the misty rain mountains and waters of Jiangnan, gentle and enchanting, like the artistic conception of “Dust hard to reach the clear waves, all different above the waves of smoke and clouds,” thus named “Bi Bo Yan Yun.”

继续往南。湖面渐宽，青黛之间跃出一抹红色。碧玉螺雕塑出现在道路尽头的视觉焦点上，形成强烈的视觉“对景”。既展现了现代科技，又标识出地域文化，令人会心一笑，故命名“碧玉螺岸”。

Continuing southward.  The lake widens, and a touch of red emerges between the green and blue.  The Bi Yu Luo sculpture appears at the visual focus at the end of the road, forming a strong visual “contrast.”  It showcases modern technology and marks regional culture, bringing a knowing smile, hence the name “Bi Yu Luo An.”

南端湖面，上午浮光跃金，下午天水一色，广阔如海。一侧的千波桥，以婀娜的双曲线飞架而过，人工与自然在这里完美融合，“千波”一词多义，故命名“千波观海”。

At the southern end of the lake, the morning light dances on the water, and in the afternoon, the sky and water blend into one, vast as the sea.  The Qian Bo Bridge, with its graceful double curve, spans across, perfectly integrating artificial and natural elements.  The term “Qian Bo” has multiple meanings, thus the name “Qian Bo Guan Hai.”

桥洞空间（既有空间多功能化利用）
Bridge Space (Multifunctional Use of Existing Spaces)

千波桥的桥下空间是根据尺度和位置特征进行设计，以太湖水韵为主题展开。内侧桥洞注重滨水流线的沟通，辅以千波石景观雕塑组，是既能表现在地文化，又能提供人景交互的休憩型社交场所；外侧滨水的桥洞，结合其独特的景观位置，作为多功能空间使用，可以承载露营、市集、街头艺术、文化宣传等活动。桥洞空间形成一动一静，两种空间性格的组合，并用桥底水韵彩绘进行统一。

The space under the Qian Bo Bridge is designed based on scale and location characteristics, with the theme of Taihu Lake’s water rhythm. The inner bridge space focuses on the communication of waterfront streamlines, supplemented by the Qian Bo Stone landscape sculpture group, which not only expresses local culture but also provides a restful social place for people-scene interaction; the outer waterfront bridge space, combined with its unique landscape position, is used as a multifunctional space, capable of hosting camping, markets, street art, cultural promotion, and other activities. The bridge space forms a combination of dynamic and static spaces, unified by the water rhythm murals on the underside of the bridge.

05「专项」
Special Features

灵动盒子——驿站（BOX），是景观构筑。四大景点对应四个驿站（BOX)，形成动态景窗，致敬传统文化的同时提供一线临湖的消费配套载体，重点设置了自行车友好设施，也为未来的公交系统预留了接口。

Smart Boxes – Stations (BOX), are landscape structures. The four major attractions correspond to four stations (BOX), forming dynamic view windows. While paying tribute to traditional culture, they provide a first-line lakefront consumption support carrier, with a focus on bicycle-friendly facilities and interfaces reserved for future public transportation systems.

白鹭是这段江南湖岸最常见的“居民”，我们以此为创作起点，将雕塑与实用功能融合，设计了“白鹭亭”，“飞鸟坐凳”，“自行车吧台”等景观雕塑，希望通过设计的力量，最大程度弥合人工与自然之间的割裂感。

The egret is the most common “resident” along this Jiangnan lake shore. Taking this as the starting point of creation, we integrate sculpture with practical functions, designing “Egret Pavilion,” “Flying Bird Bench,” “Bicycle Bar,” and other landscape sculptures. We hope that through the power of design, we can minimize the sense of disconnection between artificial and natural elements.

在雕塑的设计与制作环节，周全考虑了安全和稳固性等关键因素。采用十毫米厚的 304 不锈钢板进行弯曲成型处理，通过严谨精细的结构计算，确保其能够在风中适度摇晃，从而有效缓解风力冲击，2024年9月经受住了13级台风贝碧嘉的洗礼，一切完好。

In the design and production of sculptures, safety and stability are key factors considered. Ten-millimeter-thick 304 stainless steel plates are used for bending and shaping, and through rigorous and precise structural calculations, we ensure that they can sway moderately in the wind, effectively alleviating wind impact. It withstood Typhoon Bebija, a category 13 typhoon, in September 2024, with everything intact.

白鹭亭取形于飞行中白鹭的翅膀，自然垂挂下来，给人以呵护的空间，不锈钢板的高强度使得体量轻盈的同时也易于造型，其韧性也适合抵御湖边的台风。

The Egret Pavilion takes the shape of an egret’s wings in flight, naturally hanging down, providing a nurturing space. The high strength of stainless steel plates allows for a lightweight yet easily shaped structure, and its toughness is suitable for the typhoons by the lake.

飞鸟坐凳将两片钢板交叠弯曲，形成坐凳上的遮蔽空间，如大鸟栖于岸边，钢板的韧性和强度既能在风有轻微摇曳带来趣味，也能抵御湖边台风的破坏。

The Flying Bird Bench bends two steel plates to form a sheltered space on the bench, like a large bird perched on the shore. The toughness and strength of the steel plates can bring fun with slight swaying in the wind and resist the destruction of typhoons by the lake.

观景座椅和自行车吧台延续了白鹭亭和飞鸟座椅的造型，为骑行的人群和游客都能相应提供适合各种功能的休闲空间。

The viewing seats and bicycle bars continue the shapes of the Egret Pavilion and Flying Bird Bench, providing leisure spaces suitable for various functions for cyclists and tourists.

06「自行车友好」
Bicycle-Friendly

骑行是十里明珠堤最为日常也最为频繁的活动，在慢行友好不断发展的大环境下，让骑行爱好者们有连续、安全、便捷和优美的骑行环境，是项目重点考虑的。设计中的自专道垃圾桶、停车脚踏、自行车吧台、标识系统以及驿站盒子都作为自专道配套有序分散在全线，同时为未来更多更丰富的骑行需求预留空间和接口。

Cycling is the most everyday and frequent activity on Shi Li Mingzhu Levee. In the context of the continuous development of pedestrian-friendly cities, providing a continuous, safe, convenient, and beautiful cycling environment for cycling enthusiasts is a key consideration of the project. The dedicated cycle path trash cans, parking pedals, bicycle bars, signage systems, and station boxes are all orderly distributed along the line as cycle path supporting facilities, while also reserving space and interfaces for more diverse cycling needs in the future.

07「独处空间」
Solitude Spaces

在设计中精心规划的一些独处空间，例如飞鸟凳等城市家具，自然而然地被人们所选用，人们置身其中，与景观完美交融，共同构成了全新的美好场景，这有力地印证了设计的成功与合理性。

Some solitude spaces, such as the Flying Bird Bench and other urban furniture, are carefully planned in the design and are naturally chosen by people. People place themselves in them, blending perfectly with the landscape, together forming a brand-new beautiful scene, which strongly proves the success and rationality of the design.

08「总结」
Summary

十里明珠堤拥有得天独厚的自然风光和独特的IP资源，我们希望通过打造这些资源，为城市提供一张令人难忘的名片，助力城市发展和实现美好生活。

Shi Li Mingzhu Levee has unique natural scenery and unique IP resources. We hope to create these resources to provide the city with an unforgettable business card,promote urban development and achieve a better life.

然而，鉴于这是一次低成本改造，在设计和实施过程中不可避免地受到资金、用地、政策等多方面的制约，不得不做出一些取舍，因而存在一定的遗憾。当崭新的活力得以激发后，或许当前存在的一些限制性因素能够得以化解，为未来的改造升级预留出充足的空间和无限的可能性，使十里明珠堤能够在未来更出色地满足人们的多元需求，承载更多温馨美好的生活故事和珍贵回忆。

However, given that this is a low-cost renovation, it is inevitably constrained by various factors such as funding, land use, and policies during the design and implementation process, and some trade-offs have to be made, resulting in some regrets. When new vitality is stimulated, some of the current restrictive factors may be resolved, leaving ample space and infinite possibilities for future renovations and upgrades. This will enable Shi Li Mingzhu Levee to better meet people’s diverse needs in the future, carrying more warm and beautiful life stories and precious memories.
