家具与他者的关系，是物体与身体、物体与周遭环境的关系；家具本身，则是由上述关系投射到物与物、材料与材料的独特的连接关系。Sylph椅有意设定了两个材料，一个工业化的可以任意弯曲的细钢管和一个需要手工细作的木质材料，这两个材料将被连接，并以各自的方式（与身体的关系和材料自身特性）成为椅子的一部分。

The relationship between furniture piece and the other being could also be reflected as the relationship between thing and human body, thing and its circumstances. The furniture itself, the materialized relation of connection among things and matters ,is the result of projection by the aforementioned relationship. These two intentionally chosen materials, the one the slender tubular steel, an common industrial product which could be curved at will, the other the wood staff, which demands fine craftsmanship, would connect with each other, merge as a unity, while maintain their own articulation (by interact with the human body and manifest its own properties)

木材是传统的家具材料，具有自然、温暖的特性，钢材则具有弹性以及现代感。

一根完整的圆钢经过手工弯曲形成椅子的后背和后部的两条腿metal legs，人坐在椅子上，椅背产生和人身体重量相匹配的弹性，从而达到这把椅子和坐者之间的沟通。

Traditionally employed as the material for furniture making, the wood is favored by its sense of natural and warm. Meanwhile the steel is characterized with its elasticity and sense of modernity.A piece of continuous long tubular steel manually curved to form the back and two rare legs, the elastic deformation specifically defined by the user when he/she weighs on the chair, initiates a unique dialogue between the chair and the sitter.

纤细的圆钢可以弯曲为不同的形状，它既构成这把椅子形式美的一部分，也以不同的方式承托坐者的后背。圆形且微弯的座板以及上下细致收分的椅子的前腿，具有更为耐看的细部，木质的椅腿上部放大以便更好地与椅子的座板相连接，椅腿的横断面向下逐渐收分变小，并由圆形逐渐转为“心”型同时也是女性臀部形态的断面，椅腿这样的底面形态也具有更好的抓地力，和具有一定弹性的钢质后腿一起，增强了椅子的舒适性和稳定性。

Slenderness of the tubular steel contributes itself as part of the form beauty of the chair, while at the same time resides in itself the possibilities to sustain the back of those who seat in in different ways with various curve pattern.The round and slightly up-bent seat panel and the front legs extremely slimmed on both ends, invest in the chair the details worthy of close reading and appreciation.The top of the front legs are intentionally expanded a little to better sustain the base panel, while downwards the legs gradually slimmed and the section deforms from a round shape to a heart shape, mimicking the silhouette of the female bottoms.Benefit from such bottom shape which provides better grip, together with the rare legs of certain elasticity, the comfort and stability of the chair are ensured.

Sylph椅具有女性优美的特征，sylph意为苗条的女人，The Sylphs是十五世纪炼金术物理学神话混合研究里提出的代表空气小精灵的小仙女，这把椅子用这个词命名，取其轻盈以及颇有些古怪精灵之意。

其中一把S形后背的椅子，更可将一只手臂绕至椅后并搁置椅背中，坐姿如窈窕淑女，中文故名“窈窕淑椅”。

Chair Sylph is endowed with some characteristics of an elegant fair lady, while the word Sylph, implies in itself a lady who possesses a slim figure.The sylphs, originated from the hotchpotch study of the alchemy, physics and mythology in 15th century , is the little fairy who represent the Elf. Basically the naming of the chair with this very name, aims at taking the sense of lithe and mischievous into its connotation.One of the Sylphs-series chair, whose back rail is S-shaped, gives space for an arm to rest on the back of it, thus the posture of the sitter at that moment, could be associated to a fair lady’s. Therefore the chair in Chinese could be called “the chair of a fair lady”[“Fair lady(Yao Tiao Shu Nv)” originally from chinese Classic of Poetry, an image combined with internal and physical beauty, is of great cultural significance]
