Designed by Fayetteville, Arkansas-based Somewhere Studio for the 4th cycle of Exhibit Columbus, themed Public by Design, Ground Rules utilizes construction waste wood to activate an underutilized public space under the colonnade of the Cummins Corporate Office Building in downtown Columbus.

The project creates layers of street activity by programming the prominent late- modernist colonnade with an accessible, elevated turf playing court, benches for resting and spectating, and inviting guests to occupy the previously inaccessible space beneath the monumental existing concrete structure.

The project pairs design elements with the predominant features of the space: a textured blue screen wall echoes the horizontality of the monolithic concrete beams, a scalloped purple game shelf wall continues the hedgerow datum, and the wood deck with red diagonal stripes emphasizes the staggered columns and dynamic shadow play of the wood trellis above.

此外，该项目采用平板包装模块设计，展览结束后可以拆卸、迁移并重新组装，在新的地方继续新的互动对话。

Additionally, the project is designed in flat-pack modules that can be disassembled, relocated and reconfigured after the exhibition to continue the conversation and games in new places.
