Appreciation towards Studio Kattentidt for providing the following description:

In summer 2011 Berlin-based jewellery designer, Christian Koban, hired Studio Kattentidt to design a shop and showroom called bow.berlin for his latest collection of jewellery, accessories and leather products. The design of the products reflects and represents a young and agile lifestyle. All products use the finest raw materials the world has to offer. Selected Christian Koban products are also stocked by leading shops around the globe, e.g. Jeffrey’s in New York, Maxfield in Los Angeles and Departmentstore in Berlin.

Berlin City-West was chosen to host the new shop. At the moment City-West is turning into a cool and chic destination and not just because it is close to the known high-end fashion addresses of Kurfürstendamm or the transportation hub of Bahnhof Zoo. Newly opened shops breathe the fresh spirit of change into this neighbourhood. The area is being revived with exciting projects such as Bikini House Berlin by Arne Quinze and Europe’s first new-build Waldorf Astoria, scheduled to open in early 2012.

In the process of realising the shop, Studio Kattentidt was given the challenge of converting an old shop beneath the S-Bahn rail line that connects East Berlin to West Berlin into an innovative shop concept. The goal was to create an interesting, entertaining and inspiring environment for customers and professional buyers.

During the first visit to the site, it felt like standing in front of an old workshop with a vast array of windows. Based on this first impression, Neels Kattentidt came up with the idea of making this contrast between high-end lifestyle products and industrial charm into the shop’s design feature. Studio Kattentidt conserved the character of the rough brick surfaces and cool arches of the old railway structure, and created a pared-down gallery atmosphere by using the minimum of out-of-context components. The studio avoided the typical sleek and glossy imagery of high-end designer boutiques by turning to cleaned-up, recycled car tyres.

Three impressive chandeliers made from large lorry tyres, construction lamps and oversized crystal are suspended from the shop ceiling.  Stacks of tyres are grouped around the room on the black terrazzo flooring. These are used to showcase the products: They feature LED lighting to present the jewellery against a grey background of glistening slate. The accessories and leather products are placed on platforms and are lit by the frosted glass surface. Clothes rails and reconverted bike stands are suspended from the walls, along with cabinets made from tyres that have been cut in half and topped with glass.

Studio Kattentidt is based in Berlin – the new European creative melting pot – and was founded in 2005. We are a German design agency primarily working in the field of brand architecture and interior design with a special focus on “staging space”. This area of design embraces classic product and furniture design in innovative consumer products and all kinds of space designs. The range of spatial design stretches from retail and trade fair design to interior design.

Studio Kattentidt customers include agencies, companies, producers and private customers. Their method of working involves intensive consultation, extensive research, openness, an eye for detail and holistic thinking, in order to guarantee personalized solutions to customers, which are tailored to their needs. Since its inception, Studio Kattentidt has designed trade fair stands and events in the fashion, sport, automobile and pharmacy industries as well as shop window installations and home interiors.

bow.berlin主要销售两位德国设计师的作品：Michael Lawrenz的高档皮具箱包和皮带以及ChristianKoban的珠宝配饰。这是两个年轻，活力的品牌，使用了世界上最好的原材料。这些精品商品也出现在世界各地的精品店，比如纽约的Jeffrey，洛杉矶的Maxfield和柏林的Departmentstore。
