设计场地在北京宣武门地铁站附近繁星戏剧村的二层露台，场地12m*7m见方，东西通透，南北两侧为既有建筑，场地向东可以看到街对面宣武门教堂的穹顶，向西是老北京四合院的平房建筑屋顶，繁星戏剧村前身为前清贝勒府，穹顶和老建筑都见证着这个区域的历史。

The design site is located on the second floor terrace of the Star Theatre near Xuanwumen Subway Station in Beijing. The site is 12m*7m square, the east-west direction is unblocked , the north and south sides are both existing buildings. The east side of the site can see the dome of the Xuanwumen church across the street. The west is the roof of the bungalow building of the old Beijing courtyard house. The former Star Theatre was formerly known as the Baylor House in Qing Dynasty. The dome and old buildings all witnessed the history of this area.

此次的设计来源是《牡丹亭》，正如杜丽娘那场最美丽的梦境发生在傍晚一样，一天中最缱绻缠绵最光怪陆离的时刻，莫过于夕阳下万物轮廓被抹去棱角的黄昏时分。因此，我们希望把“亭”和“黄昏”作为设计的主体来源，“亭”提供场所，表达功能；“黄昏”呼应主题，表达意境。在最后的设计中，“亭”对应的是一个6m*6m*3m的纯白角铁结构，“黄昏”对应的是一抹由196张硫酸纸形成的“晚霞”。

The design source of this time is “Peony Pavilion”. Just as Du Li Niang’s most beautiful dream happened in the evening, the most lingering and grotesque moment of the day is the twilight time when the outline of everything is blurred in the sunset. Therefore, we hope to use “Pavilion” and “Twilight” as the main concept source of this design, “Pavilion” to provide place for shading function; “Twilight” to echo the theme and express artistic conception. In the final design work, the “Pavilion” corresponds to a pure white iron structure of 6m * 6m * 3m, and “Twilight” corresponds to a “sunset” formed by 196 sheets of colorful tracing paper.

整个装置主体的设计在数字化软件的辅助下完成，从配色到曲线的造型都经过了反复的推敲。其中配色的灵感来源于印象派画家莫奈的一幅作品《日落》，又名《黄昏下的圣乔治·马乔雷教堂》（San Giorgio Maggiore by Twilight），场地东侧的教堂穹顶也因为这个意向引入到了设计中来。

The main design part of the device is completed with the aid of digital software, and from the color matching to the curve shaping all through many times deliberation. The color matching was inspired by a painting named “Sunset”, also known as “San Giorgio Maggiore by Twilight” by the Impressionist painter Monet. Because of this inspirton, the dome of the church on the east side of the site is also Introduced into the design.

最后的设计以两条不同形态的正弦线作为整体造型的结构基础，共等分为28个切片，每个切片由7张全开（787mm*1092mm）硫酸纸裁剪而成。同时对每张硫酸纸下面的活动空间高度也做了模拟测试。出于控制成本考虑，建造过程主要通过手工完成。具体方式为对每张硫酸纸图纸进行编号，并将每张图纸等比例打印在一张A0（841mm*1189mm）白纸上，然后根据图纸将对应编号的硫酸纸进行裁剪。

The final design uses two different sinusoidal lines as the structural basis of the overall shape. The shape is divided into 28 sections, each of which is cut from 7 full-open (787mm*1092mm) colorful tracing paper. At the same time, the height under each piece of colorful tracing paper was also tested by simulating. For the sake of cost control, the construction process is mainly done by hand. The specific method is to number the each sheet of colorful tracing paper’s drawing and print the drawing on a piece of A0 (841mm*1189mm) white paper, and then cut the corresponding number of colorful tracing paper according to the corresponding drawing.

在正式搭建前，我们做了一个1:10的手工模型，以检测纸材实际效果并根据模型搭建考虑后期实际搭建的物料和步骤。最后的搭建除了主体“晚霞”外，我们还设计了“亭”下的休憩场所，包括植物、躺椅、镜面桌、风铃等元素。其中植物材料包括细芒、小兔子狼尾草、紫叶狼尾草和矮蒲苇。

Before the formal construction, we have made a 1:10 manual model to test the actual effect of the paper ,make the material list and be familiar with the steps for real construction. Besides the main “sunset”, we also designed the rest area under the pavilion, including plants, lounge chairs, mirror tables, aeolian bell and other elements. Among them, plant materials include fine awns, pennisetum bunny, purple fountaingrass and dwarf reed.
