The latest oil paintings try to recreate visual experiences that now exist entirely in the space of memory. Rare strong visual experiences mark human memory and we almost always continue to seek them for the rest of our lives.

These works attempt to bring to life certain scarce moments when time temporarily comes to a standstill, environments charged with anticipation and emptiness, ambiguous places with a sense of purpose that is not yet revealed, or landscapes that create pauses out of sync with the rest of the world.

In this personal pursuit, there are two critical sources. Viewing art and experiencing real life. Certain artworks that live in museums produce an enduring visual imprint. One may have the chance to come back to them and relive the memory they created. Similar rare visual encounters in real life, on the other hand, may never come back and may only exist in the space of memory. The oil paintings of this series are the result of a personal exploration of such encounters. Memory is seen not as a projector of images and senses, but rather as a formative instrument that may produce unexpected results. The painting process is seen not as a projector of memory and intellect, but as an equally formative medium that takes a course and life of its own.”
