Cylindrical light objects, changing light intensity under a touch. Here is a new lighting set, created by Polish designer Pani Jurek, together with an architect, Piotr Musialowski. Through tactile play with the object, those two lamps – KOLO Magnet and KOLO Sand – allow adjusting the light intensity to the needs and moods of its user.

KOLO Magnet.
Lightly sliding a magnetic disc on the surface of the light circle opens a spectrum of the light effects. It let to manage the light intensity from the full brightness to the dim. Compositions made by the user resemble astronomical phenomena.

KOLO Sand works like an hourglass. After moving mechanism upside down, the sand is slowly covering the light circle and the brightness is slowly fading. Falling sand, accompanied by gentle murmur, creates mesmerizing drawings. The lamp is ideal for those who do not like to sleep in the darkness. Sloping the lamp to the side position can stop the process of falling sand.

Pani Jurek
Pani Jurek was founded by Magda Jurek, artist and designer. She graduated in painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw and brings a conceptual approach to her work with the aim of creating products that are not obvious and not standard. She designs products which can be changed and rearranged together with spaces and which also awaken your own creativity. For example, a lighting fixture turns into a vase, a tablecloth into a playhouse. She credits her design approach in part to growing up in Polish prefabricated apartment blocks during the nineteen eighties. Within limited spaces, products needed to be compact and also multi-functional. She is also advocate sustainability. With items that can be used in multiple ways, you can limit your purchasing needs. Pani Jurek is also co-founder of the Association “Based in Warsaw” which was set up to achieve social design as well as design for public areas.

Piotr Musiałowski
An architect and designer. He is graduated in architecture at the Warsaw Univesity of Technology. From 7 years he runs 2pm studio, which specializes in mockups and architecture models. He brought to the KOLO Sand & KOLO Magnet projects his experience and technical approach.
