Colorful mysteries of light
You can’t really say “that chair is red”. Actually, the chair is reflecting red light while absorbing green and blue light. It is the light that colors the world. This CMYK lamp plays with the mystery of light and color and projects an elusive network of lines of cyan, magenta and yellow light on the ceiling. Designed not to be understood but to show that light is the only rightful owner of color.
People seeing the light are wondering where the light source is. Where the electricity comes from. And above al how is it possible that you can see all these colors. The design isn’t referring to something existing. My inspiration came from space science; it’s a weightless visual language. A language that is also not really readable. The lamp is designed in a way that keeps you fascinated about the colorful mystery of light.
Led technology is a revolution in lighting. The CMYK lamp is meant to set an example of what lighting can be. Colored shadows is an existing phenomenon. It reveals the colors hidden in white light. There is a direct relation between primairy colors of light (Red Green and Blue, RGB) and the primairy pigment colors used for printing (Cyaan, Magenta and Yellow, CMYK). I found it interesting to see this relation. The name ‘CMYK lamp’ is a contradiction. It’s the opposite of the primairy colors of light.
With Led technology it was made possible to integrate such a effect in a lamp. Every new technology has it’s own benefits. Led light is not jet excepted as a the light for in our homes. The advantages of led are enourmouse and it’s only a matter of time that this will change the way we think about light. The advantage of led light is enormous, it gives me new opportunities. My head is full of ideas. The future of light is bright.

你可不能说椅子是红色的。事实是椅子反射了红光,吸收了绿光和蓝光。世界就是光谱的世界。这款的灯的设计就利用了这一点,那些投射在天花墙面上神秘的青色,红色,黄色光让人摸不透。光所拥有的色彩是一切的源泉。
人不可能看到所有的色彩,设计也不是要做现成的东西。设计师的灵感来自空间科学,一个无法解读的失重视觉语言。通过设计的方式作出丰富多彩让人着迷的神秘光。彩色都隐藏在白光之中。RGB形式是红,绿,蓝三用光。用于印刷的CMYK光是Cyaan,红色和黄色。色彩的关系直接明确。设计师聪明的利用了这一点。
这款灯叫CYMK,其实与通常所说的CYMK相反。LED光源无疑是决定性因素,设计师非常感激这项新科技,因为这改变了用光的方式,出现了很多新机遇,并给了他无穷的灵感。光的前途很光明。

很棒的创意。用红绿蓝三种LED稍微错位叠加作为光源。减去任一原色就会合成黄、青、品红。
与印刷的加色相反,这就是为什么作者说这个灯实际是cmyk的相反,因为用的是减色原理。
