Appreciation towards Ermes Povoledo for providing the following description:
CiMoLoD (Torrente Cimoliana, Monte Lodina e Dosso Nadei) is the result of the “CimolArt 2016” workshop, where architecture and landart, together with the most important landscape elements of the place, created a new landmark in the Valcellina’s territory.
The workshop coordinated by architects Ermes Povoledo and Giorgia Liut, gave the possibility to eight young designers to get to know the Land Art and the self-build architecture to realize architectural objects that enhance the values of the landscape where they were realized. The project area is the Friulian Dolomites park (Pordenone, Italy), World Heritage Site since 2009, place surrounded by fascinating peaks and an amazing natural landscape.
The architectural artifact and the landart installation fuse together and they enter in relation with the existing embankment, built in order to contain the river’s flooding.
The workshop’s participants had the task to give a new functional role to that artifact and to loot at it not only as a technical element, but even as a place for meditatation and having a break, able to connect the stream to the park that’s right next to the stream.
Exactly like the torrent Cimoliana scratched the levee of concrete and stone, showing once again that the power of nature is able to recover its own space, in the same way the landart handiwork, that consists of a “wave” composed by dry branch, shapes the wooden architectural artifact that is supposed to “repair” the emankment and to offer a confortable seat to the users.
From there, between the boughs, it’s possible to admire the stunning landscape of Friulian Dolomites.
