In a long, shifting choreography, the rigid elements are recast into an airy succession of mesmerising patterns ranging from the geometrical to the fractal. This kinetic dynamic, coupled with the multitude of possible points of view in the room, allows the viewer to discover a wide range of visions of the work. An artistic experience between sculpture and choreography, marked by the effect of visual vibration produced by the interaction between the red and white bands.

Barrier Bars was unveiled at the “Industrial Art Exhibition” in Dammam (Saudi Arabia) which brings together more than 40 internationally renowned artists. SpY works again with the perception of the public offering a fluid visual experience marked by the changing shape of the piece and its scale, inviting visitors to navigate and contemplate it from many different perspectives.

In his kinetic sculptures and installations, SpY explores on the axis of four main factors in the experience of the work. The first would be the formal element, with its conceptual content as well as its color and geometry, it’s materiality. The second is the public, who is encouraged to navigate around the piece and to view it from different perspectives. The third element is movement, either mechanical or natural. And the fourth and last element is time, understood as simultaneous, as the present of being here and now as an observer. Each moment of observation of the piece meets a particular instant in its formal progression, literally a new artwork is discovered in a blink of an eye.
