关于产品 About the product

这是一把尺子，你可以用来做书签和镇纸或者桌面摆设。通过CNC切割，折弯机折弯，镭射雕刻手工打磨和包装设计完成了一个小物件的生产全过程。

This is a ruler, a bookmark，a paperweight or justa Desktop furnishing. I made this small obejct through the CNC, metal bending machine, laser cut, hand polishing and packaging design.there are 2 mateirals and 3 product. stainless steel, brass, stainless steel+brass.

 

 

关于形态 About form

他是一把尺子，折动方便从桌面拾起，12cm的刻度。他还是一个书签，通过切口可以把一些卡片笔记镶嵌其中，露出的部分的折动会让视觉体验更有趣。放置在桌面的时候，他就像一个艺术品，不再是那种紧贴桌面的尺子。

It’s a ruler that fold itself,in order to make it easy to pick it up from the desktop,12mm’s scale length. You can also make it a bookmark,I design some Oblique incisions，you can put your note there，and when you put it in the book，the folding part of the ruler will make it more interesting. When you leave it on the desk，it‘s an art work，not just a normal ruler.

 

 

 

材料比对  Material comparison

选择使用1mm的不锈钢与黄铜两种金属材料，（通过对比0.5mm,1mm,1.5mm,2mm的材料，我希望尺子本身可以不会产生自身形变，且因为有切口，不至于切口以后愈加厚重，所以采用的是1mm的不锈钢与1mm的黄铜）产品有3款，单独展示材料特性的产品（不锈钢，黄铜），也有两种材料混合的产品。

I first test 0.5mm,1mm,1.5mm and 2mm ‘s  stainless steel and brass ,in order to make sure that the ruler will close to the desktop and not to be too heavy ， I Choose 1mm stainless steel and brass .

 

 

 

关于理念 About the method

放下屠刀，立地成佛。一把戒尺，一个人的改变，任何时候都不晚，以金属的冰冷，锐利的锋芒，比作屠刀，而使用者，就是那个心生善的人。

“A butcher becomes a Buddha the moment he drops his cleaver”. This is a ruler made by cold metal and hard texture,just like a knife so thaht i use it to metion myself.

 

关于包装 About package

卡纸通过切割折叠，环绕尺子本身，通过尺子自身切口连接固定，“一把尺子“右侧是警句：放下屠刀立地成佛。左侧翻转到背后是一些游离的粒子，屠刀附近是一边漆黑，烦乱与嘈杂都远远观望。我把他看成是屠刀，所以希望他本身在未开封之前是一种被封印的状态，而封印一般会是法术，法术会在被封印物体表面产生若有若无的光晕流转，必选材料，选择了防静电袋，这种袋子，光线微小的变化就能产生非常强烈的光影。并且最后通过符箓缠绕。（为了让有宗教信仰的朋友不要太纠结，我使用的是道家的平安符，内在是一种祝福）

The cardboard is folded and cutted so that it can wraps and fixs around the ruler itself. After that，we can see the words “A butcher becomes a Buddha the moment he drops his cleaver”on the right side.when flipping back,there are free particals stay on the dark background, Symbolic tranquility and turbulence.I think it looks Like a long dusty sword，I find the plastic bag with strong light and shadow， And finally with a curse close to him.
