Who is your favourite architect? Why?

I am really interested in the connection between the old and the new. In this way I really appreciate some local and international architects such as Rafael Moneo, highlighting the Merida Roman Museum in Spain, but also David Chipperfield and Peter Zumthor.I like not only the ability they have of adapting to new environments, but also the way they create new icons connected to those towns and their local characteristics.

What is the major characteristic of your current school’s education?

My school is really orientated to architecture design but also they make a huge emphasis in the construction stage, structure, development, budget, etc.

What have you gained during the MAD internship?

I think MAD is like a little Babel Tower,as it brings people together from all around the world, all working towards a single goal. This in turn offers the opportunity to experience and learn from different cultures. There is this aspect, as well as the design is so very different from the any I have experienced before, therefore it has made for a really profitable experience.

What are your thoughts and feelings upon Chinese Architecture and the environment?Any suggestion?

I think China is changing and reinventing itself every day in a really fast way. The city is changing, and architects experiment with local tradition, western influences, and this makes the city a very surprising and interesting place.

What is your dream?

If you asked me this question 4 years ago, my answer would have been to build a skyscraper in my hometown. Thank God, nowadays I have other ideas, and I realize what truly advances oneself is trying to understand this complicated world by meeting new professionals, and facing new and different challenges.

What would you do if you were not an architect?

Archeology and history fascinates me. In my final thesis project I was able to combine my three passions, in the research and design of repurposing a 1000 year old monastery along the pilgrimage to Santiago in Spain.

What is your dream project?

To buy a piece of land near the Pyrenees and explore the connection between nature and building.

What is your favourite project in your portfolio? Why?

I feel the Research Center that I designed for the Aranzazu mountain range is really special to me, because at first I was displeased with where my project was headed and it took much effort and many sleepless nights to bring the design forward. It has now become my favourite project, as through the redesigning of it I also learnt a lot about myself.
