从牵线的经验到空间构成
From the pull of a line to spatial form

《牵引 1：组合》与《牵引 2：斜置》是任爽在北京怀柔雁栖湖创作的两件临时公共艺术装置。作品以钢构件、钢丝绳与白色无纺纱形成开放的空间构成，同时为音乐演出提供背景。两件作品沿用同一结构单元，分别通过单元之间的组合与单元内部的转向，回应不同场地和观看方向。视频灯带的编程与纱面投影进一步改变夜间可见的线、面和空间层次。

Traction 1: Assembly and Traction 2: Reorientation are two temporary public art installations by Ren Shuang beside Yanqi Lake in Beijing. Steel members, steel wire ropes and white nonwoven gauze create open spatial forms that also serve as backdrops for music performances. The works share a structural unit but respond to different viewing conditions through assembly between units and reorientation within a unit.

创作缘起于北京秋季草地上的放风筝场景。牵线者持续注视远处的风筝，通过手中的线感知拉力与方向。任爽关注这种集中于单一动作的经验，将线的牵引、张力与被托起的轻盈感转化为固定的构件关系。作品在使用期间保持固定形态，悬浮感来自线、面及其空间关系。

形态推演从自由手绘开始。任爽在相互交织的线条中选择具有视觉吸引力的片段，再通过 SketchUp 数字建模将它们转化为可调整的直线与曲线。一个完整单元形成后，被复制为三组；组合中的衔接问题又促使创作者返回调整最初的单元。局部与整体之间的往返推演，使绘画中的直觉逐步转化为具有尺度、连接和支承关系的空间形态。

The starting point was kite flying on a grassy field in Beijing in autumn. Holding a line, the flyer watches the kite and senses changes in pull and direction. Ren translates this experience of sustained attention, tension and apparent suspension into fixed relationships between members. The installations remain stationary throughout their use; their sense of lightness comes from the spatial relationships between lines and surfaces.

The form developed through freehand drawing and SketchUp modelling. Selected fragments of interwoven lines became adjustable straight lines and curves. A complete unit was copied into three, then revised as the connections between them were tested. Moving between part and whole turned intuitive drawing decisions into spatial relationships with scale, support and connections.

牵引 1 组合
Traction 1 Assembly

《组合》由三组重复单元横向展开。钢构件建立主要轮廓与支承、连接关系，经张紧的钢丝绳通过牵拉参与整体构成。杆件与索线的粗细、方向和疏密同时形成观看的层级：远处先读出整体，靠近后再辨认局部的交叉与牵拉。各类线性构件的构造职责与视觉作用在同一体系中相互支持。

Assembly extends three repeated units horizontally. Steel members establish the main outline, support and connections; tensioned steel wire ropes participate through pulling. Different thicknesses, directions and densities create a hierarchy of perception. The overall form is legible from a distance, while closer views reveal individual intersections and tensile relationships. The structural tasks and visual roles of the linear elements support one another.

白色无纺纱张设于线性构件之间，形成沿竖向延展的分段曲面。正面观看时，连续帆面建立舞台尺度所需的宽幅背景，产生局部遮挡；曲面之间的间隙则让树木、天空与周边环境进入视野。侧面观看时，横向展开的构件依次叠合，作品呈现较窄而高耸的轮廓，重复单元和索线网络强化纵深与排列秩序。四分之三视角同时显露整体宽度与构件深度，使曲面的重复和中部网络的疏密更清晰。

装置本体高约 11 米，现场地面至顶部约 13 米。观众可在地面接近并绕行，从侧面、背面及不同方向观察。舞台台面不向观众开放。观看位置的变化，使公众能够在移动中联系不同视图，并逐步辨认正面叠合所遮蔽的构件距离与索线层次。

Nonwoven gauze stretches between these elements to form segmented vertical curves. From the front, the surfaces provide a broad backdrop and partial screening, while gaps retain views of trees, sky and the surrounding landscape. From the side, successive members overlap to create a narrow, tall profile with pronounced depth. A three-quarter view reveals the width and depth together. The installation itself is approximately 11 metres high, reaching about 13 metres above the local ground. Visitors can approach and walk around it at ground level; the performance platform is not open to the public.

牵引 2 斜置
Traction 2 Reorientation

《斜置》从三组组合中提取一个结构单元，根据以正面观看为主的场地重新组织前后两层帆面。后层向前旋转 45°，并向两侧延伸，俯视构成近似倒 T 形。转向减少了主视图中帆面的过度重叠，使更多曲面及其间隙同时可见。

这项调整重新分配了各片曲面的可见程度。单元由整体中生成，又通过内部关系的改变形成独立形态。《组合》以连续重复和密集叠合组织节奏，《斜置》则呈现单体内部两层构成的方向差异。钢构件、钢丝绳与无纺纱继续承担支承、牵拉和曲面组织的作用，使两件作品保持共同的构造语言。

Reorientation extracts one unit from the three-unit assembly. For a site where frontal viewing predominates, its rear layer of sail-like surfaces rotates forward by 45 degrees and extends laterally. The resulting plan approximates an inverted T. Reducing overlap makes more of the curved surfaces and their intervening gaps visible within the principal view. Changes within the unit produce an independent form while retaining the material and structural language of Assembly.

线与面的夜间呈现
Lines and surfaces after dark

日间，自然光使白色曲面、金属杆件和索线显现，构件投影进一步呈现线与面的叠合。入夜后，视频灯带的直接发光与无纺纱表面的漫反射共同作用，形成清晰的线性光与柔和的面状亮度。侧向夜景尤其显露结构的纵深：亮线沿不同层次展开，纱面之间的距离与中部索线网络的前后关系随之可见。

Daylight reveals the steel, cables and white curves, with shadows adding further layers. At night, direct light from video LED strips combines with diffuse reflection from the gauze. Side views reveal luminous lines extending through the structure’s depth and softly illuminated surfaces at different distances.

任爽为《组合》预先编写一百余种视频灯带效果。编程以中部三个钻石状构成及其前后穿插关系为基础，通过中心局部点亮、环线围绕、三组同时发光和上部点状发光等组合，重新组织空间的视觉重心。位于不同深度的点与线在视野中叠合，形成聚集在装置中部、近似星团的发光构成。驻地或乐队灯光师依据演出节奏实时选择与组合效果，系统亦设有声音触发功能。

《斜置》沿用这一灯光逻辑，在中心增加一排高亮发光单元，以爆闪效果形成更集中的视觉重心。任爽为其预先编写四十余种灯光效果，使单体的中心、周边帆面和线条形成不同的明暗层次。

Ren programmed more than one hundred lighting effects for Assembly, using its three central diamond-like formations and their interwoven depths. Selective illumination, tracing of loops, simultaneous lighting of all three formations and points of light above them shift the visual focus. Points and lines at different depths overlap into a cluster resembling a star field. A resident or band lighting operator selects and combines the effects during performances; the system also includes a sound-triggered function. Reorientation uses more than forty pre-programmed effects and an additional row of high-intensity central light units, concentrating the visual focus through strobe effects.

纱面投影在完全入夜后启用，通过 mapping 对位，使影像对应无纺纱曲面。半透明纱面承接影像，同时保留其后的构件与光线，形成类似蜻蜓翅膀的半透明视觉质感。视频灯带主要组织发光的点与线，投影则在曲面上呈现影像；两者从不同层次参与夜间空间的呈现。

Projection begins only after full darkness. Mapping aligns imagery with the curved gauze surfaces. The translucent material receives images while allowing members and light behind it to remain visible, creating a visual quality reminiscent of dragonfly wings. The LED strips organise luminous points and lines; projection adds imagery to the surfaces. Together, they make different layers of the fixed structures perceptible at night.
