多极星是一个激发人们从多角度去感受环境的互动装置，也是一个放置在乡野中的异质地标，张扬而夺目，吸引着人们来探寻这个丰富多元的乡村环境。

Starburst is an abstract sculpture set against vast wheat fields at the foot of nearby mountains. As both a visual and interactive public art installation, it offers a novel way to experience the natural environment, creating a striking intervention in the rural landscape.

环境
Site

场地所在的蔡家坡村位置得天独厚，地处西安城南的终南山山脚下，山下则是整片的麦田。以武小川老师为首的西安美术学院实验艺术师生于2018年在这里创立了“关中艺术合作社”，并创办了“关中忙罢艺术节”，发起一系列的乡村介入艺术项目。众建筑受邀参加第五届关中忙罢艺术节之《终南山川志》 ，设计包括互动“多极星”互动装置和忙罢艺术节服务站的预制模块化立面系统。

这是一个很壮美广阔，也很丰富多元的地理环境。秦岭山脉延绵不绝，一个个村庄交错点缀在山脚下大片的麦田之中。

The project site is near Caijiapo Village in southern Xi’an, where the Qinling Mountains stretch endlessly, with villages scattered among the wheat fields. People’s Architecture Office designed Starburst and a visitor center as part of the 5th edition of the Guangzhong Manba Arts Festival, a public art program that supports artistic interventions in rural locations.

This is a very magnificent, vast, rich and diverse geographical environment. The Qinling Mountains stretch endlessly, with villages dotted among the large wheat fields at the foot of the mountains.

介入
Intervention

多极星用一种轻巧又浓重的方式介入到乡村的自然环境里。它宛如一颗闪耀的红色星星，轻轻的降落在终南山下广阔的田野之中，在周围环境中脱颖而出；它又是一个可以互动的环境观察器，可以给人提供更加丰富的环境体验。

Starburst is like a shining red star, gently landing in the vast fields at the foot of Zhongnan Mountain, standing out from the surrounding environment; it is also an interactive environmental observer, which can provide people with a richer environmental experience.

多极星的尺度可大可小，分支可多可少，可以以不同的形态点缀在乡野之中。多极星通过和环境反差性的红色，以及抽象几何的形式，在自然环境中非常的突出，成为一种对于乡村的异质化介入。

Starburst can be large or small in size, have more or less branches, and can be dotted in the countryside in different shapes. Starburst stands out in the natural environment through its contrasting red color and abstract geometric form, becoming a heterogeneous intervention in the countryside.

观察
Observe

多极星是一个激发人们从多角度感受和观察环境的互动装置，它的每个分支都是一个万花筒。从多极星外侧观看，是两个前后叠加的万花筒；进入到内部，有更多角度的万花筒去看天、看山、看树、看村庄，和看田野。

Peering into the arms of Starburst reveals views into other worlds, colorful mosaics of natural imagery. Visitors are invited to engage with their surroundings and each other through a spherical array of kaleidoscopes. These optical instruments capture unique views of the sky, mountains, fields, and nearby villages, offering a constantly changing visual experience through their patterned reflections.

不同的景物通过三角万花筒的多重反射，形成了更加丰富和炫酷的视觉感受。随着人和万花筒的观看距离变化，看到的影像也会随之产生变幻。

Shifts in the environment and changing perspectives establish a dynamic connection between the observer and the landscape.

互动
Interactive

多极星提供了两种互动：人和环境的互动，以及人和人的互动。人们从不同的圆筒观看不同角度的环境，看到反射后拼贴的景物，是人和环境的互动；人们站在不同圆筒的内外两端互相观看，看到万花筒里变幻的对方，是人和人的互动。

Beyond environmental engagement, Starburst fosters human connection. Each cylinder functions as a kaleidoscope, allowing people to view the environment or each other through shifting reflections. Visitors standing at opposite ends of the cylinders can see kaleidoscopic images of each other, creating playful and engaging interactions.

进入多极星内部的人就如进入座舱一般，可以通过环绕的圆管万花筒来环顾观察四周，也可以和外面的人产生多人互动。

Entering the center of Starburst offers a simultaneous panoramic view, surrounding the viewer from all angles.

地标
Landmark

多极星是一个可以近玩的互动装置，也是一个可以远观的艺术雕塑。多极星由发射型的19根圆筒组成，以其抽象和几何的形式、以及浓烈的红色，形成了在乡野之上特有的标志性。在该位置放置多极星之后，有效的引导了这个方向的人流。

From a distance, Starburst stands as a bold landmark in the landscape. Its vibrant color dramatically contrasts with the muted tones of the surrounding fields and mountains.

多极星的内部结构为一个五边形组成的20面体钢框架。钢框架之上伸出圆筒，其中5根圆筒为地面支撑，14根圆管为悬挑做法。圆筒的内侧为通长三角折弯不锈钢板，形成万花筒的反射效果。整体全部在工厂预制加工，现场快速组装完成。

The internal structure of the starburst is an icosahedral steel frame composed of pentagons. Nineteen cylindrical kaleidoscopes extend from the frame, of which five of the cylinders are ground supports and fourteen cylinders are cantilevered. The inner side of the cylinder is made of long triangular bent stainless steel plates, creating a kaleidoscope of reflection effect. Starburst is prefabricated in the factory and quickly assembled on site.

结语
Summary

多极星因为其抽象和几何的形式，在蔡家坡这个乡村环境，带来了一定的陌生感；但同时通过对人和周围环境的互动联结，将自身锚固在了这个场地，产生了特有的在地性。

The installation’s design and interaction with the environment create a unique sense of place, connecting people to the rural surroundings in novel ways. Through its playful structure, Starburst transforms its surroundings into a space for exploration, reflection, and connection.
