正如我所理想的那样，我希望我的作品始终与我个人的气息保持一致，息息相关，这是我所认为的能够保持创作的真诚而单纯的唯一方式。我的作品题材多以风景作为主体进行创作，这并不是当下环境生态文化盛行下的策略胜利，对风景题材的选择更多的是我的生活经验的惯性，不及思索的选择。我当然不是一个标准的自然主义者，以歌颂和崇拜自然为己任。在我的作品当中，我选择更主动的将自然中的一些形象按照我所希望的那样
排列和布局，比如巨大的仙人掌总是出现在画面中央，巨石在天空下坚硬的屹立，大麻潮湿的成为一片，一副心肝在树上垂直悬挂……所有这些形象它们同在一个类似自然的环境里相互依靠却又沉默，凝重，孤独。同时这种主动对自然形象的选取和布局，让我的作品产生了一种戏剧化的舞台感。而舞台化的东西总是让人可见不可触碰，真实又不真实，从而产生一种疏离感。而我想孤独感和疏离感正是我画这一批作品的真正缘由。
I hope that my works are always a reflection of my personal characteristics, the two of which shall be closely bound up. This is my ideal, and I think it is also the only way to keep my creation sincere and pure. Most of my works target on landscapes. This is not a intentional strategy to cater to the current environmental and ecological culture, but out of my life experiences and intuitive choice. Definitely, I’m not a standard naturalist who is
obsessed with singing the praise of or adoring nature. In my works, I prefer to take the initiative to arrange the natural features as I wished. For example, the giant cactus always emerges at the center of the picture; huge stone stands stiffly under the sky; cannabis sativa covers a vast land; a heart hangs in the tree. All these images are interdependent under the similar natural environment, but they are also silent, solemn and longly at the
same time. Moreover, the initiative selection and arrangement of natural images produce a dramatic sense of stage performance. Staged presence is visible but not touchable, real but not so real, thus creating a sense of alienation. I think, loneliness and alienation are true reasons that trigger me to create this collection.

他画画很自觉，而且不急不慢，有条不紊，其画面与他的性格十分吻合，沉默少语，单纯，内向，含蓄，他是那种知道要去画什么的人，总是不停的重复的追求一种感觉，一种沉郁而整体的色调，无论天阴天晴，清晨还是黄昏，他只对阴晴天下的景物感兴趣，色彩的绚丽多彩似乎对他没有吸引力，或者视而不见，我不知道产生这种特点的具体原因和精神背景是什么，总之它已成为刘瑜画画的一种习惯，看上去是一种稳固的追求。通过他的作品，他的美学理想清楚的表白了出来，沉郁的绿色，苍白的天空，沉醉于普通的景致之中，与世无争的态度里夹杂着少许的郁悒，这里的诗意是超然避世的，没有喧哗，好似对当下文明的遗忘，对时间的遗忘，对社会的遗忘……

He is self-conscious in drawing, always patient and in order. The images reflect his personality in a very perfect way, quiet, simple, introvert and reserved. He is that kind of person who knows what he wants to draw. He keeps pursuing the same feeling repeatedly as well as a gloomy tone no matter it is cloudy or sunny, morning or twilight. The scenery under the cloudy and sunny context is his only interest. He seems not interested in colorful scenes or, maybe, deliberately turns a blind eye to them. I have no idea about the specific reasons and spiritual background that form such characteristics, but I know it has become a habitual practice of his drawing, seems a permanent pursuit.
He clearly expresses his aesthetic ideal through his works. Somber green, pale sky…he is obsessed with the ordinary images where the detached attitude is mingled with signs of slight depression. His poetic drawings are detached and tranquil, a oblivion of the current civilization, time and society…
