《轻盈的宇宙》是浙江大学建筑系副教授王晖为2014杭州国际设计周创作的空间装置(spatial installation),位于一幢传统木结构建筑的二层。

Light Universe /Hui Wang, Architecture Department of Zhejiang University

“Light Universe” is a spatial installation created by Hui Wang ,who is the associate professor of Architecture Department in Zhejiang University ,for the 2014 International Design Week of Hangzhou. It is located in the second floor of a traditional wooden structure building.

约50平米的空间被23枚双面镜面不锈钢板(double-side mirror stainless panel)分成了9个隔间,每个隔间约2.4×2.4米。正中间的隔间内放着一盏张拉整体结构的“最轻的灯”(the Lightest Light),这种结构由连续的拉索和不连续(不接触)的受压杆件组成,它的命名者建筑师B. Fuller认为整个宇宙都是基于同样的原理:内部受压的星球漂浮在引力的海洋中。

There is 23 double-side mirror stainless panels, to divide the approximately 50 m2 space into nine cells, and each cell is about 2.4*2.4m. “The lightest light” is placed in the middle cell of the room. It is a tensegrity structure, consists of continuous cables and discontinuous compression members. According to its nomenclator Buckminster Fuller, the entire universe is based on the same principle: the planets with internal pressure are floating in the ocean of gravity.

为了达到极致的悬浮效果,拉索用了0.28mm不锈钢线,同时兼作12v低压电的导线。这盏灯带有运动感应装置,当人走进隔间时会瞬间亮起,在四面的镜子中无限延伸。同时人们也会看到镜面板上的镂空刻字:“你照亮了世界”。

In order to achieve the ultimate effect of suspension, 0.28mm stainless steel wire is used as tensional cable, as well as 12v electric wire. When someone walked into the cell, the light with a motion sensor will be turned on instantly, and extended infinitely in surrounding mirrors. Meanwhile, people will see the words “You lighten the world” on the mirror stainless panel.

在周围8个隔间里,穿过镜面的不锈钢丝线翩然起舞,构成了不同形状的平面或直纹曲面。丝线上悬浮的透明盒子被聚光灯照亮,里面装着彩绘的卵石,仿佛是《小王子》童话里一个个轻盈的小星球。借助镜子相互之间平行和垂直的关系,丝线和彩石似乎形成了延绵不绝的小行星带,而观众似乎进入了一个多维的超现实空间。

Around other cells, stainless wire passing through the mirror forms a shape of plane or ruled surfaces in different position. Filled with painted pebbles, a number of transparent boxes suspended on the wire are illuminated by spotlight. So these boxes look like the small planets shining in the fairy tale “The Little Prince”. By virtue of the parallel and perpendicular relationships of mirrors, wire and stones seem to form an endless asteroid belt stretches, leading the audience to enter in a multi-dimensional surreal space.

在这个古旧而幽暗的传统建筑中,现代的结构与材料、亦真亦幻的镜面效果和恩雅空灵悠远的背景乐一起,塑造了一个令人愉悦的、梦幻般的迷宫。

By means of modern structure and materials, mirrors which confuse the reality and illusion, along with ethereal background music of Enya, a pleasant and dreamy labyrinth was created in this old and dusky building.

    “内部受压的星球漂浮在引力的海洋中”读者可能会引发的误解。
    引力确实无所不在,四种相互作用力中的一种,而且正是引力导致了星球的自我坍缩。
    星球能漂浮,一方面受到引力的“下沉”,一方面受到宇宙膨胀的“浮力”。
    事实上哈勃红移告诉我们,我们并非漂浮,而是一直往上浮,因为膨胀大于引力的影响。
