台湾KIMU Design工作室设计了这款充满变化和东方美感的屏风“”The New Old Divider。他们将金属屏风框架与东方纸扇元素结合起来，打造出极简优雅的现代屏风。

How can cultural differentiations coexist to inspire new forms?

Our living environments are full of variables, requiring our objects to be versatile in terms of function, visually coherent across diverse settings, and able to affect the atmosphere of spatial environments. The paper fan incorporates transformative functions, allowing it to exist both minimally and decoratively. By varying its convertible features, the screen is able to create different spatial experiences.

In our product, we aspired to unify the contrasting personalities and representations between two cultures. The subtly of the East and the boldness of the West are balanced and symbolized through the marriage of the paper fan, and the frame structure. This duality is also mirrored by the Paper Fan’s ability to exist across the spectrum between minimalist and decorative.

When the paper fans are collapsed within the metal frames, the simplistic aesthetic creates a sense of ethereality, which visually suggests at spatial separation; when the fans are allowed to expand into space another statement can be made, one that reflects the classic beauty of oriental aesthetics while providing an element of ornamentation to its environment. The transformative nature of The New Old Divider allows the user to easily maintain a sense of freshness in any space through varying configurations of the paper fan.
