废物再利用是一个值得无尽挖掘的话题。这一系列色彩缤纷得让人心情阳光满满的椅子，就利用到了回收的丝带。这些丝带是用于制作纱丽的丝绸边角料。美丽缤纷的纱丽边角料经设计师巧手转化，变成民族风十足，散发出欢快味道的椅子们。纱丽小球里面填充了海绵，坐靠起来相当舒适。椅身的白橡木采用了可拆卸的分离式设计，减少包装体积，提高运输效率，减少消耗。

Recycled Silk furniture series are designed with the idea of using recycled silk yarn as upholstery. This ecological and hand crafted furniture family consists of a chair, an ottoman and a stool which are made of American white oak and recycled silk ribbons from Nepal.  These recycled ribbons are obtained from the waste of silk used for making “Sari” which is traditional cloth of Indian ad Nepalese women.

The ethnic-inspired design aims to bring warm and cheerful atmosphere to spaces.  Colorful silk balls filled with sponge inside also provide a comfortable sitting experience.

To decrease the carbon footprint while transporting legs are designed to be easily assembled and disassembled even by one hand.

“Design process began with the material. Recycled silk ribbons are produced from the waste of “sari” silk. When I first saw silk ribbon skeins, and heard about their story it fascinated me. They were not garbage, their colors, texture are so warm and exotic. They are such stuff which you want to touch and see at home.  Whole design process took one and a half year.  I have tried to present the material’s best face and decided to create whole upholstery from small units like skeins and balls both for comfortable seating experience and creating soft and cheerful impression. Balls also let me creating beautiful color blocks rather than random color blend. I was like a cat plays with skeins.  When it came to body we made many prototypes, tried different material combination and made many ergonomic tests to decide final design. In the end this non-industrial, fine crafted furniture family was born.”   –Designer, Meb Rure
