In June 2013, Ymer&Malta is taking part in Design Miami in Basel for the very first time. Here, collectors and lovers of fine design will have the opportunity to discover its exclusive collection of contemporary design furniture and objects.
Ymer&Malta was created just over three years ago by Valérie Maltaverne and Remy Le Fur, two contemporary art specialists passionate about top quality design. Their aim from the outset was to develop a kind of think-tank where they could establish a creative dialogue with new designers and craftsmen to create and promote outstanding pieces in limited editions.
Today, with numerous of its pieces in well-known collections like the Musée des Arts Décoratifs of Paris, CNAP or Magrez Foundation, Ymer&Malta is an unsurpassed authority in the contemporary design world, creating exceptional works which are the fruit of its designers’ creative talents and the outstanding know-how of its long-established craftsmen
At Ymer&Malta’s epicenter is Valérie Maltaverne. With her in-depth experience in film production, her eye for perfection and her tireless energy to communicate and do, she draws out the very best from each designer and craftsman, often testing the limits of each’s creative and technical capacities.
Under her keen eye and direction, Ymer&Malta invites designers to come up with startlingly new designs that are then placed in the expert hands of artist-craftsmen whose time-honored skills and know-how often date back as far back as the 19th century.
With no limits imposed, materials such as marble, leather, solid woods and fibers are meticulously worked, sculpted and assembled to produce furniture pieces and objects of rare beauty and innovation, made all the more exceptional in very limited editions for connoisseurs, enthusiasts and collectors alike.
