Appreciation towards DigitalFUTURE Shanghai Workshop, SCUT. for providing the following description:

“机械花园”参加上海当代艺术馆（MoCA Shanghai）的”生活演习—2012建筑空间艺术展”，作为花园设计的一部分。展览以日常生活空间为线索，把上海当代艺术馆抽象化为花园、客厅、餐厅、厨房、书房、卧室、浴室等主题空间。展览关注中国当下居住空间，一方面探讨人和生活环境的基本关系，另一方面也试图拓展其与都市的多重关联。在设计中，我们希望将花园带入艺术馆的入口空间，作为一种从“公共”到“私有”的软性过度。我们的花园不再是以传统规则与静态的方式展现，而是作为一种媒介，更好的融入公共生活，以动态和多元化的方式与参观者互动。通过Arduino数字媒体技术，我们模拟了机械花园与人的交互，“花园”以图案、波纹等效果呈现，并借此畅想一种由媒体介质主导的未来建筑空间体验。

“Mechanical Garden” as part of the garden design, takes part in the exhibition “MockUp- Architecture of Spatial Art 2012” of MoCA Shanghai. Inspired by daily livingspaces, MoCA Shanghai will be abstractly divided into ten domestic spaces, including agarden，living room, kitchen, study, bedroom, bathroom, and so on. The exhibitionfocuses on contemporary Chinese living spaces. While it considers the basicrelationship between human and their living environments,it also extends multiple linksbetween living spaces and the city. In our project, we wish to bring “garden” back tothe entrance of MoCA, as a soft connection between “public” and “private”. “Garden” isno longer static and tradtional understanding, but as a new media, “Mechanical Garden”comes into our social life, ensuring a more pleasing expression of interactiveexperience for visitors. By arduino media technology, “Mechanical Garden” responds forthe behaviors of human-beings, creating different patterns and field effects. Theproject not only shows the potential of interactive components, but will change ourattitude towards spatial experience of new media in the future.
