Appreciation towards JIA for providing the following description:

JIA Steamer set – Culinary Innovation
Steaming has always been a popular tradition in Chinese cuisine. Even now, steamed foods are commonly found in restaurants and street food stalls, however in many households, this tradition of steaming has gradually been set aside in favour of other cooking methods. Today, the JIA Steamer Set not only brings you innovative design but also hopes ton bring a little more warmth back into your life.
Designer: Office for Product Design
Material: Fire proof ceramic, Cedar wood, Terra cotta
A Perfect Combination of Elegance and Daily Practicality
The JIA Steamer Set is more than just a steamer – it is a multipurpose cooking vessel which can also be used as a regular casserole. At one time bamboo steamers were often used for cooking in the Chinese home, but over the years this method of cooking has largely been forgotten.
Designers Nicol Boyd and Tomas Rosén, of Office for Product Design, have reinterpreted the classic steamer pot and bamboo basket, giving it an elegant design combined with a functional twist which gives the steamer set a renewed relevance in the modern kitchen.
Handmade with All Natural Materials
Every JIA Steamer Set is unique as each one is individually hand made by skilled craftsmen using a variety of natural materials. The JIA Steamer Set only uses natural materials which do not interfere with freshness or taste of the ingredients.
Steamer Pot
Material: Fireproof Ceramic
The steamer pot and lid are made from fireproof ceramic, which has excellent heat resistance compared to regular stoneware, making it less likely to crack at higher temperatures. The JIA steamer pot can be used on open flame gas stoves and also in ovens.
Steamer Basket
Material: Cedar Wood, Terracotta
The steamer basket replaces the traditional bamboo base with terracotta. This natural material has efficient liquid absorbing characteristics, meaning it can absorb any excess moisture generated during steaming, ensuring that the food is perfectly moist.

JIA Inc.
JIA in Chinese Means Home
Starting from Chinese culture, JIA Inc. invites international designers withvarious cultural backgrounds to explore and re-interpret Chinese objectculture, traditional craftsmanship and materials to create a new direction inthe modern home ware market. Through discussion and debate sparked by differentpoints of views, JIA Inc. challenges itself to overcome manufacturing obstaclesand stay true to unique design ideas and develop products that reach acrossboundaries, explores the borderlines, stereotypes, prejudices and encouragesmeaningful differences.
Across Boundaries
Across Cultural Boundaries
While based on Chinese culture, JIA Inc. welcomes discussion and different points of view. JIA Inc. projects are often created through the combination of this dialogue and with the identification of objects that are relevant to both the Asian and Western dining table.
Across the Boundaries of Tradition and Modernity
JIA Inc. continuously attempts to strike a balance between the old and the new and aims to re-interpret traditional Chinese materials and craftsmanship through modern design typologies and creative thinking.
Across Living Spaces
JIA Inc. believes that home objects should not be defined by living spaces but instead should fit many different modern lifestyles and environments: a casserole in the kitchen is also a focal point in the dining room during gatherings at home, and a lovely bowl has as much reason to set the scene on your balcony as it has on the breakfast table.
