MAD no doubt is one of the most recognized architectural practices in China and worldwide. Every year, MAD receives countless job and internship applications. Who is your favorite architect? Why?
I appreciate architecture that puts you wondering another time or life, and those architects who embodied the mind of artists. I find architecture that generates personal feelings and emotions attractive, thus I don’t have a favorite. Architecture has to do with too many things, artistic taste, living style, problem solving skills, politics, and the sensibility to observe and to be opened to different culture and society. Besides forms, I am also interested in the social effects, initial intention, ambition and imagination that architecture brings to our world.
What is the major characteristic of your current school’s education?
I just double checked the school’s mission and I can see a good portion of the McGill students follow this mission pretty well, but I can’t speak for all the McGill graduates what they’ve learned from our school. I’ve learned to have a life style adapt to my diverse interests, just like many others I’ve met and known.
What have you gained during the MAD internship?
Not to mention the warm friendship and software knowledge coming from the office staff… It is the first time that I visit and live in China. The experience certain clear out some doubts and worries that I previously had about the cultural difference between Taiwan and China. In fact, I enjoy the chaotic and random problems and opportunities that it provides. Currently I am trying to gain a deeper understanding of the art of calligraphy and meeting local/ foreign artists in Beijing.
What are your thoughts and feelings upon Chinese Architecture and the environment? Any suggestion?
More words will be revealed when I am able to make a difference. I like the experimental spirit. China has becoming a birth place where large-scale, ambitious projects are being born, but not all of them present the same level of cultural sensitivity and affiliation. What is your dream? A life filled with passion, surprises and curiosity. Dreams are goals that yet to be achieved, the closest one is to travel in India alone, and get lost in new thoughts.
What would you do if you were not an architect?
Poet, painter, dancer,. I’ve tried them all but it can be challenging to be professional in all of them in one life. Other things that I’m also interested in doing would be film director, underwater photographer, run way/opening designer.
What is your dream project?
My own studio situated on a cliff, overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, a place where the beauty of nature enchants my soul.
What is your favorite project in your portfolio? Why?
All of them are special to me as they were traces of my thoughts and interests, or a reminder of how close I was to the deadline. The two art exhibitions in Rome were memorable as they happened with a lot of beautiful stories.

最喜欢的建筑师是谁？为什么？
我欣赏那些能让你彷彿置身于不同的时空与生活的建筑，尤其是有着艺术气息的建筑师。建筑是多方面性的；美学，生活态度，应对能力，政治，并以客观角度来敏锐的观察不同的文化与社会。除了形体，我也对建筑带给世界的社会效应，初步动机，野心与想像有所吸引。
你所在学校的教育特点？
我刚看了学校网站的教学宗旨，不少学生也实行着学校的教学方桉，但师父领进门修行在个人，我不清楚毕业生到底从本校学到什麽。我自身了则是找到了能满足我广泛兴趣的生活方式，不少身边的同学也是如此。
在MAD实习最大的收获是什么？
除了公司团队的友情和技术上的知识…这是我第一次接触中国，这次经验除去之前我对台湾和中国文化差异的疑虑和担忧，事实上，我很享受遇到这理纷乱且任意的机会及问题。目前我想对中国书画艺术有更深入的了解和对在北京当地与驻地外国艺术家交流。
你对中国建筑的感触是什么？建议是什么？
日后我会在更合适的时机对此发表意见。我喜欢实验的精神。中国已是孕育大型及有指标性建筑的所在地之一，然而并不是所有的项目都秉持着相同程度的文化敏锐性和关联性。
你的梦想是什么？
一个充满热情，惊喜及好奇心的人生。梦想是未完成的目标，目前正安排一趟印度流浪之旅，迷失在新的视野与感悟。
你如果不当建筑师会选择什么职业？
诗人，画家，舞者…一直有累积的创作和学习但在一生中在各项达到专业水平有一定的难度。对于导演，水底摄影与伸展台/开幕式设计师我也持有高度的兴趣。
你梦想中的项目是什么样的？
我自己在位悬崖的工作室， 俯视着地中海，一个能让我心灵着迷的地方。
在自己的作品集中，你最喜欢的作品是什么？为什么？
他们都带有我每一个阶段的设计特质和兴趣，或它提醒着我当时与期限的距离。在办罗马的两次个展发生的种种，想起来都很美好。
Bibliotheque Marc-Favreau |The Book Box

Bibliotheque Marc-Favreau is situated in the Rosemont neighborhood in Montreal, adjacent to the town hall and newly built housing projects with across-the-street access to the subway transit.
The concept of this library lies in that of a space “floating” above ground, with the main light source originating from above through the skylights, and two openings at either ends of the building. Going up the main staircase, one may feel the people circulating on the upper floor and retain the impression that the books are all around and accessible.
Although we live in a digital age where almost any information is accessible online and directly from the comfort of our own homes, there is something peculiar about being in the library. People come to share this experience whether they want to concentrate on studying, enjoy a moment of solitude or meet others.
Marc-Favreau图书馆坐落于蒙特利尔Rosement的邻里，毗邻市政厅和邻近地铁交通的新建住房项目。图书馆的概念在主体”浮”在空中，与主光源从上面始发通过天窗和建筑物两端的开口引入自然光。主楼梯引入读者至二,三楼，整楼的牆面都架有书柜，围绕着中间充满阳光的阅读区域。
现在虽然网络上都可提供各式的资讯，但图书馆的存在仍是我们与书本接触的重要场所。
Murdoch Laing | Habitat 67’ Design Competition

The intention of the design was to have two separate units/ families live within asingle lot between Rue St-André and Rue St-Christophe, in Montreal. Each house canonly occupy 50% of the space volume. I chose to stretch the house so the residentscan access different units from each street. The house contains a larger unit anda smaller one. The smaller unit sits on top of the larger one. The units have toprovide enough separation, privacy and outdoor spaces.
设计想法是有两个独立的单位/家庭在蒙特利尔St-André路和St-Christoph路之间。每间房子只能占总空间的50％。拥有两个独立单位的房子在被伸展开后便能从不同的路进入。房子包含一个较大的单位和较小的一个，较小的主要占二三楼的一半。单位必须提供足够的隔离和隐私，还享有自己的户外空间。

Place des Nations is a site located at the west end of Ile-Sainte-Helene, Montreal. The site was built for expo 67, but due to the wind and lack of shelter, it became a venue that was often ignored. Place des Nations has a high potential of being revived. With the carefully designed roof, its proper function can be restored and the venue may finally bring an exciting atmosphere to the events it
hosts.
